Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain
OK, as the Owner of a Fully Loaded 300c/SRT8, I will, of course, go for a Fully Loaded Challenger, with a 5 Speed Autostick, 425HP Hemi. Perhaps I will go with the 6 Speed Manual, but the WA580 Trans in my SRT8 is better than I am...
However, I must stress the utmost importance of of D/C producing an attractively priced V6 model, with Manual Trans, worthy of the "T/A" designation. Here's how I see this MOST IMPORTANT MODEL: It should NOT be a single exhaust, secretary special like the Mustang V6. Smaller, Dress Tips should peek out the back, set into the rear splash apron. It should start as a minimally optioned car, compared to the loaded one I'll be purchasing. It should have a suspension, trans, brake package, etc., that will make the Automotive World ( i.e. the Reviewers) take notice of this car, so to make THEM reccommend it over the Mustang. "Little Brembos" would be a bragging point for the Kids. It should be LIGHTWEIGHT, so it handles as well (better?) than the heavyweight Hemis. It should be a respectible performer. I for one would expect MORE HP than 250HP, which is available currently with the 3.5 V6. Dual Exhaust, with Dress Tips, and a remapped engine, should net the necessary 10-20 HP gain, and, bragging rights... ...and, it should be priced to sell. LJB PS: What about a "Baby Hemi" at 4.7L, to one-up the Mustang 4.6? Last edited by M3SMG02 : 01-25-2006 at 02:53 PM. |

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain
I will not purchase one unless it is a SRT8 model with a bit more power than the current SRT8 line and it must offer a real 6 speed manual tranny. It is a great looking concept Dodge, but it needs to be built with the attitude you are going into the market for the enthusiast who may want to play with it as well. I am very disappointed with your efforts to hamper aftermarket development for the current SRT8 line.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain
I voted 425hp w/6speed but would not be dissappointed with an auto like in the SRT-8s.And if they put a 5.7 in they should bump hp to 375.As far as options give us many!!!

I will purchase (already on a waiting list) the Challenger WHEN it is released. I will opt for the biggest engine available (6.4?) regardless of gas prices, the economy or any other factor. I will purchase it with a six speed manual tranny only. I will order my car on day one, with every available option, wait as long as I need to for the car, and pay over sticker if need be! I will keep my FULLY LOADED '06 300C SRT-8 as my daily driver, and use my Challenger as a weekend car. If a convertible Challenger is ever released I will buy that instantly! I will buy the car regardless of color scheme, however, Black would be my first choice, orange my second.
If you would like any volunteers for a focus group, count me in. I would be happy to help you further tweak the Challenger as you prepare to release it to the masses. PS I would pay extra to get one of the first Challengers to hit the streets. DanRealtor |

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain
With all due respect DCX and SRT-Team...Please put in the 6.4Liter (392) 500++ HP motor in the SRT-8 version of the new hemi challenger with a manual transmission, to compete with the new Shelby GT500 Mustang with 475+ HP. Please leave us a car to remember many years later(as well as now), that would beat all its competition including The new Shelby GT-500. Also please keep styling just like concept, except for the challenger emblem on rear fender. This might be one last chance to be remembered as the King of the Street and Strip again, just like old days with this beautiful new Hemi Challenger. "We don't need all the fancy options"....I would prefer keeping the weight down and instead putting in the 6.4L(392) 500++ HP Motor. I am president of the North Eastern Hemi Mopars and I took a poll that if you guys build it,like it looks right now and put in the 6.4L (392) Hemi in the srt-8 version...I have exactly 4,763 members who have the cash in hand to purchase ASAP. If you need to know more please send PM to me. Thank You John aka: Vanishing Point (yes I do own the original copy 426 hemi Vanishing Point car).

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 1 - Choose your Powertrain
please build it! and please make a 500+ horsepower version to run with the GT500, by either putting a supercharger or upping the displacement, and try and knock a couple hundred pounds off the Charger/300C/Magnum weight

After spending the day at the doctor and dentist, and then the balance of the day 'scouring' the local bookstores for any/all automotive enthusiast magazines currently featuring the Dodge 'Challenger' concept, I then return home to this pleasant surprise...what an honor! Thanks to DCX for allowing us the opportunity to help them determine a valid customer base for such an awesome vehicle...the new generation Dodge 'Challenger'. ![]() |
