Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 2 - Transmission Selection

I'd trade my '05 Mustang for an '08 Challenger in a heartbeat! Provided, of course, it looks a lot like the concept and doesn't cost more than the wife's Daytona Charger.

It would be buy the car, take it home and void the warrenty that day (richmand 6 speed and a lakewood bellhousing).
If the question was intended to be would I drive a challenger with an automatic (even an autostick) ? no absolutly not.

Just my .02, a 2 door performance coupe with no available stick is like owning a pink elephant, a fun thought, but not very practical.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 2 - Transmission Selection

I think if it was auto only, I would still buy it, But I would much much rather have it in a stick!

You need to build the car with both a 6 speed and automatic option, staying true to your heritage. Its been said over and over ad nauseum on these forums. Personally, if I wanted to drive an auto I'd buy a corolla.
While I like the looks and the power of the new Challenger enough to buy it if it was offered only in automatic, I think it would be a mistake for Dodge NOT to offer a manual transmission as a choice. I believe the relative simplicity of a manual would be beneficial in a vehicle with this much horsepower. Manual would be my first choice (if we get to have a choice!)

without the manual trans i would have to look else where for my next car, i would also like to see the challenger offered in a low line option package that still had the 6,1L/6sp power train,
