Don;t be surprise if the 6.1 gen2 moves to 450-475HP range....

Also to others, would you be happy with a DSG in a SRT model?

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 2 - Transmission Selection

Direct Shift Gearbox. It uses dual clutches, however no clutch pedal. Is a paddle shifter type of transmission with lightning quick shifts (quicker than humanly possible if programmed correctly). Here is a good demonstration http://auto.howstuffworks.com/dual-c...ansmission.htm

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 2 - Transmission Selection

good site, but I'm not interested in the DSG, might as well have an automatic. Want an "old style" manual. Sorry, technology isn't everything, nostalgia has a large role in this whole mopar muscle car thingy....

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 2 - Transmission Selection

Per a very reliable source on another forum, the 6-speed manual (same Tremec unit as used in Viper) has been approved and will be available on 09 Challengers.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 2 - Transmission Selection

It maybe possible to reach the R/T 08 models also as resumespeed remarked of the latest relased memo.

The Viper T66 latest tranny has enough strength to facilitate the latest performance packages that the Challenger will demostrate soon.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 2 - Transmission Selection

I chose yes for my answer but if I have to go automatic I would consider a Charger/300c over the Challenger for the following reasons...

1-they can be easily aquired and cheaper

2-if I have to settle for an automatic LX I might as well get a 4-door as well
