Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 2 - Transmission Selection

No manual tranny = no sale.

If I can't get the small Hemi (350 HP) with six speed........somebody else will be making a sale. GTO, Mustang, Camaro or maybe a Chevelle (Rumor though)???

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 2 - Transmission Selection

you've already messed up the charger making it a 4 door with an automatic that almost no performance enthusiasts are willing to buy. so let the rappers and moms of america have that car make something the real enthusiasts can own. we need a 6 speed with close ratios but still able to give decent gas mileage too.

I'd like to see DCX start using the 4.7 liter V-8 in these cars...I have one in my Ram and love it....they need to use it in the RWD cars

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 2 - Transmission Selection

I didn't vote as for me, it's not a black and white question.

DCX seem to have upset a few people making the Charger a 4dr AUTO and need to recognise that fact.

Before I offer my opinion, it needs to be qualified. I'm a Brit, and like most Brits, I've grown up driving manuals. In the UK autos have always been an option that costs more money, that use more petrol (at about $7 a gallon) and are driven by lazy people. IMHO

I know things are different in the US, autos are the" norm", but to offer the Challenger without at least the option of a manual would be, to put it mildly, "unthoughtful". Stuff a manual in it, if for no other reason than the fact that a well respected "drivers / enthusiasts" car, at the top end of the range, really helps the sales of the lower priced models.

Love my Charger.

Re: Challenger Powertrain Question - Part 2 - Transmission Selection

DCX shouldn't tease us with this car and not offer a 6-spd. That's the biggest complaint I've seen with the SRT-6 Crossfire...Albeit it is a Benz under the skin, a manual should've been adapted....Being a salesman at a Chrysler/Jeep store, many potential customers were completely turned off by not having a manual on the options list...
