Question Poll - What Would You Like To See Improved/Changed For The Production Model?

Now that the Challenger concept is going to be produced are there any details you feel could be improved on the concept for the production car? A tweak here, a tweak there that would make the car better or extra special?

List them here! Tell Chrysler what you'd like to see!

Re: What Would YOU Like to See Improved For Production?

I'd like to see the tail lights look more like the original. Also want to see an R/T stripe package, go-wing, and it would be over the top if they could make a shaker hood. Other than that I'm in love.

Re: What Would YOU Like to See Improved For Production?

Great thread. Hopefully DCX will read it and take heed.

Nitpicky stuff:

The tail light needs to be more like the original. One big light across the back is just overpowering. Split the rear light into two with the reverse light in the middle, just like the original and figure out how to rework the body to ensure the area where the old backup lights were isn't just blank.

Also it would be really nice if they tone down "the grin". Ever since someone pointed it out the lower grill on the front of the car looks like a grin and its kinda jarring. Hopefully they'll *slightly* rework it so it doesn't look like something out of Pixar's Cars. But don't change it TOO much because the grill and its location and shape are great, just make it less blatant. Also please keep the six-shooter headlights! They're killer!

The shifter is good but could be better. Not necessarily 6 shooter but I think they should try a few other pistol grip shapes, there are probably better ones than a glock out there (seems a little bland). Try half a dozen different ones, ask people what they think and pick the best one.

Someone on this board pointed out the gauges look like they're modelled after the lower end gauge cluster and not the rallye gauges. If this is true hopefully they'll pick the high end gauges to put in the production challenger.

Suggestions for options:

An old school shaker hood (which hopefully shakes). The old shaker on the 1970 looks killer.

different mag options, including old school mags. Not necessarily exactly the same as the old rallyes but mags that don't make it look like a modern bling mobile.

Lots of interior and paint color combinations, not limited to particular trim or option levels. All colors available for all cars. For example, I'd like a metallic forest green challenger with a gold hood stripe and chocolate brown interior as an 6.4L SRT-8! Kick in the retro colors too! And more than just one per model year!

Lots of option packages with a more mix and match mentality. Not sure if its doable but hopefully they'll make an effort.

At least two rear gear ratios. maybe 302s and 373s.

Both 6 speed manual and automatic options.

Engines! V6 and 5.7L and 6.1L with a 6.4L SRT-8.

DCX: if in doubt look to your past. There was a tremendous amount of flexibility in the 1970 challengers, rarely were two the same. It would be nice to be awed by the combinations instead of feeling straightjacketed.

BTW GREAT JOB ON GREEN LIGHTING!

Thumbs up Re: What Would YOU Like to See Improved For Production?

Spoiler - duck tail or go wing

2006 Viper style Gas Cap - http://www.dodge.com/gallery/img/viper/enlarge_17.jpg

Butterfly tailpipes like Z06 that opens at higher RPM's
and for the tailpipes to exit through the rear valance instead of under it.

Has to Keep the concepts R/T style hood , "Perfect hood" - IMO

392 C.I. engine with emblems on hood. ( No more metric 6.4 )

Need "Hood Pins" - Option

Re: What Would YOU Like to See Improved For Production?

Lots of flexibility in options. Stand-alone options are best, with no packages. I want to configure my car the way I want it, and not be limited to a few option packages. I think the following options should be offered:

Flat-black hood
AAR Cuda style side stripes
Wide array of colors
Leather and audio as stand-alone options
White-lettered tires with small letters (dare to be different, DCX!)
Ducktail rear spoiler

Re: Poll - What Would You Like To See Improved/Changed For The Production Model?

A Convertable model! A sunroof would be nice, but I dont know if one could be fitted into the short top.

Plenty of flexabilty with the powertrain options, everything from a V-6 for the base economy models to the big Hemi. I would love to see the old 70's colors return, bu I think most mainstream buyers will opt for a basic paint scheme.

Basically every option the 300/Charger has. Theres going to be plenty of people who'll never race this car, so luxury interior options are a must.

And how about an 8-track tape deck? (Just Kidding)

Re: Poll - What Would You Like To See Improved/Changed For The Production Model?

This is something that the production model will not fix, but a musclecar isn’t a true musclecar without the right stance and attitude and that begins with the wheels and tires. I know off the dealer lot we’ll have to settle for skinny little tires that make the car look like it’s on roller skates, so the first thing I’m going to do is change up to some big, bad, wide rubber. Also, I’m not into the flush wheel look. If it’s a musclecar, the only way to go is with deep dish wheels.
I love the full length taillight. It adds a lot to the character of the car. Everything else looks to be just right.

Hoping for a Sublime Green option...matched maybe with a flat black hood with pins.

Offer a rear decklid 'go wing' or 'duck tail' spoiler

Yes please...in flat black.

Offer lots of flexibility in options; stand-alone options with no packages.

Most definitely, and I might be in the minority here, but would like to see an automatic offered (mated to a 6.1 engine) as well as a manual.

5-speed Stick (moved)

Five speed stick does not sound good, that's not encouraging at all. Six speed is the new standard and that's what the Challenger ought to have. That's pretty much a deal breaker for me when combined with the weight.
