Re: Poll - What Would You Like To See Improved/Changed For The Production Model?

I would like to see the OLD Colors offered. Also, I want it to be a mass production vehicle so it can compete with the Mustang, and be available for MOST people.

Re: Poll - What Would You Like To See Improved/Changed For The Production Model?

Ok guys, good thread so far. opinions are like A$$holes, and here's mine.

ok, first off, to settle the 5-spd vs 6-spd debate, I think this car should have a 6-spd so that at least it can say it has the same number of speeds as a camaro or vette, etc. (the freakin honda civic si has 6-speeds)

Also, this brings me to my next point, I think that each powertrain should have its own fixed gear ratio. For example, the 6.1 and 6.4 manual would have 3.73 gears and the automatic version of the same cars might need 302 gears for whatever reason. Since I already mentioned that this car should have a 6-spd, then you will actually be able to use your 6th gear when you require fuel economy. And, also if your going to buy such a torquey car, you might as well have the torquiest gears in it.

It's also worth mentioning that the top of the line motor should have an automatic option so that the people who dont want to deal with the 6-speeds in zo6 vettes and vipers now have a 500hp option!

I dont really like the idea of "no bling" wheels being offered, but the wheels should be a little smaller than the concept since 21" and 20" tires are expensive!

I think the availiblity of a 6.4 will depend on the availibily of 500 hp in the camaro. (i.e. competition will be the main deciding factor in this matter)

This is an American car damn it, no wings!! (maybe a small duck tail spoiler that doesnt make it look cheap)

And one thing that nobody has said, the radio should be a standard chyrsler DIN or double DIN mount which would allow us to buy our own CD players or Navigation systems, No More built-in crap !!

Also, according to edmunds.com, the wieght of a 5.7 charger is 4031 lbs. Now, with that in mind, a 6.1 is exactly the same block but with a different intake and few other things which dont affect it's weight. Furthermore, manuals wiegh less than autos. The challenger is shorter and has 2 less doors and less equipment. So I would be very surprized if the final car wieghed more than a 4-door charger. I would expect it to be about 3900 lbs. Either way, it's killer looks still make it the best muscle car!

Re: Ask Dr. Z responses

I have been skimming the threads and I have noticed that a lot of are stuck on 500 hp challenger, comparing it to Shelby GT500, have any of you read the articles about that car?? A Base Not Zo6 Corvette whipped its A@# In every test 0-60, slalom, braking, maximum G. you may be asking your self how does a car with 500 hp lose to a car with 400, simple one was a well thought out vehicle the other was not, the vette is a very well centered car, on the other hand the Shelby is Nose heavy and A*& light, just can't get the power to the wheels. Just remember Horspower doesn't win race's although it does help. I will be just fat and happy with a 425 Challenger that does 0-60 in 4.5 that I spent less money on as the Shelby with 500 that does it in the same time.

Ok...now what will the colors be?

I hope they pull out all the stops, gimmie my B5 Blue baby!!!

Of course I expect them to throw in the traditional colors...Metallic Silver, black, red, white.

But they better give us at least a few "old skool" colors to pick from.

What say you peeps?

Re: Poll - What Would You Like To See Improved/Changed For The Production Model?

How about Plum Crazy.
A rear seat delete, Supercharged 392, carbon fiber decklid and hood option, shakerhood option, T/A version. Thats all I can think of.

Re: Poll - What Would You Like To See Improved/Changed For The Production Model?

I have always thought that a big hemi just looks extremely cool and aggressive with a shaker hood scoop. The way that the shaker hood scoop twists and turns every time the fuel pedal is touched would make a person almost believe that if it isn't put into gear shortly, it just may decide on its own to head on down the road. I would also suggest that the challenger name plate be removed off the rear quarter panel and be placed on the front fender between the door and the wheelwell. I would also go back to the smooth written letters instead of the block letters that are currently on the concept car. Block letters are commonly found in the truck market. I don't believe that the new challenger will need these large block letters to announce that it has arrived on the scene. P/S, I have already placed my order and paid my deposit with Charlie's Dodge Inc. in Maumee Ohio, and am inline for the 3rd car that they receive.
