Re: What will the Dodge Challenger weigh?
I wish it would come in at 3600 or less, but there is no way it will be under 4000 lbs. Oh well, I'll just have to add some forced induction to liven it up a little.

I know more than likely that it's be a plumper, but I also have a theory that they may get the weight down to really go after Generic Motors.

Re: What will the Dodge Challenger weigh?
I voted for the 3501# to 3700#. I also think that DCX should think about making a "light weight" with the 6.1. Composite front fenders, hood, trunk lid and doors. And of course remove all that is not needed. If GM can build a Corvette with $20,000.00 of materials, I cannot see why DCX couldn't put together a "light weight" and keep the out the door to the comsumer price somewhere around 42 to $45,000.00. And you bet I would be first in line to trade in my '06 Hemi Charger.

Re: What will the Dodge Challenger weigh?
I'd hope it was only like 3600 lbs.

Re: What will the Dodge Challenger weigh?
If the Dodge Boys are smart, they will remember that the 68-70 340 Darts(like my 69 GTS) and Barracudas were faster with the 340, 383 or 440 than the 70-71 E body Cuda's and Challengers with the same engine. They didn't look as sporty (but had much more room) and they weren't even as aerodynamic. But they were faster. And there was one reason. They weighed in at about 3000 to 3200 lbs. The E bodies were at least 200 to 300 lbs heavier, depending on options. Now I agree that the new Hemi puts out lots of H.P., but keeping the weight down is still vital to performance. And with all the new plastics they should be able to do this. I'm ready to put down the deposit on a new Challenger today, but if they are looking at this car being close to 2 tons, something is very wrong. My 1984 Olds 98 was only 3800!!! Come on boys!! Do it right!! Less weight means less stress on the driveline, better gas mileage and better performance. If it costs an extra thousand or two, do it!! Meet you at the strip! John
