I changed the oil on my SRT8. Warmed it up and put it on ramps and let it drain, then removed oil filter and let it drain. Added 7 quarts and started it, took the car off the ramps and parked it in the garage. About 5 hours later I checked the oil and it's indicating about 1 quart OVER!!! Took it for a short ride and after letting it cool down it still show's 1 quart OVER..
What's the deal, I hear others are experiencing the same conditions. I'd hate to take out a quart and be a quart low. What do you recommend I do?
Can someone explain how the adaptive transmission works in the automatic SRT8 Challenger?
Some people are not happy with how it 'learns' and if we knew more about it, we could possibly train it to work more to our liking.
Also, it would appear that the off-the-line torque for the automatic @ WOT is less than the 6sp even with ESP completely disabled.
Is there computerized torque managment in play for the automatic that does not exist for the 6sp?

First of all thanks for making such a great car and taking the time to chat with us.
I’m a new owner and I have a couple of newbie type questions:
I believe I read in a previous chat with your group that adding a cat back system is a genuinely beneficial modification that will add horsepower. Do I have that right and do you still agree with that now for the 2010 SRT8?
Regarding handling…are there any modifications you would recommend that would improve the already great handling of the SRT8 Challenger?
I have an SRT4 Caliber as a daily driver, I absolutely love that car, can't believe it's being discontinued. Anyways, the car has a high pitch whine in low gears, sounds like the transmission, it doesn't sound bad, just not sure if this is normal?
1) Is the shifter assembly for the Jeep SRT8 interchangeable with the one in the Charger (LX)? I was thinking of replacing the stock one with Hurst's Comp Stick kit (here's a link to it).
2) What are the pantone numbers for SRT interior (dark slate grey) and HEMI orange if I was looking to match a new ultrasuede inserts or change them to HEMI orange?

My 2009 SRT-8 Challenger six speed is now a year old. I have always had problems with harsh and notchy shifts when shifting from 1-2 and 2-3, which is diminished after the tranny warms up.
With the recent colder weather the nothy shifts are now more pronounced (now a clunking noise between shifts) and once in a while (between shifts) the clutch acts like it is not depressed all the way down even though it is. I have taken the my car to the dealer (twice), left it overnight, and then went on a test drive in the morning (twice) to prove to them that it is not my imagination.
It seems there are two issues that need to be addressed and fixed:
1. Harsh and notchy shifts between 1-2 & 2-3 before tranny is warmed up. More pronounced clunky sounding shifts when it is cold outside.
2. Clutch sometimes acts like it is not pushed down all the way even thought it is pushed to the floor.
Can you reveal the final production numbers for the Caliber SRT-4 at this time, and if so, can you break it down by color? Thank you.
