Re: SRT Engineers Chat Session - 6/11/08 6pm - 8pm EST

Go questions,
Is the Challenger SRT exhaust different from the Charger SRT?
Does it still have the suitcase and Resonators?
Will there be Mopar brand headers, Catback, or a complete system?

Stop Questions.
Are SRT's getting the slotted rotors?
Are the SRT rotors the same size as the Chargers?

General questions.
Do the hood scoops on the SRT Challenger duct air to the intake or just flow cool air over the engine?

Thanks for your help and insight....

Re: SRT Engineers Chat Session - 6/11/08 6pm - 8pm EST

So I had pretty bad drivetrain vibration and shuddering on my '08 grand cherokee srt-8 with the traction control off - I was told through chrysler and the dealer that the vibration of the vehicle was still " within spec " and was actually scolded for driving the vehicle with the traction control off in dry "non snow" conditions - so I proceeded to pay "out of my own pocket" for a transfer case fluid and this is what came out of my GC at exactly 6,200 miles....Does this look normal to you guys ??

Re: SRT Engineers Chat Session - 6/11/08 6pm - 8pm EST

I read in a recent magazine about changes in the new Challenger SRT8 rims and that they're lighter than before. Does this mean the Challenger SRT8 rims/tires are lighter than the 300C SRT8? I've also noticed the new 08 300C SRT8s have an Alloy by Alcoa stamp. Are these rims lighter than the 2006 models?

Re: SRT Engineers Chat Session - 6/11/08 6pm - 8pm EST

Why doesn’t the summer tire option for the SRT Challenger come with P255/45ZR20 tires all around instead of P245s in front and P255s in the rear? Also, is there much of a drop-off in handling/performance between the Goodyear Eagle F1 Supercar tires and the Goodyear Eagle RS-A all-weather tires?

Neither the Goodyear Eagle 1 Supercar tire or the Goodyear Eagle RS-A tire are highly rated by tirerack. Issues with wear, hydroplanning, etc. Why doesn’t Dodge put on better tires like the Bridgestone Potenza Pole Position or Michelin Pilot Sport PS2?

What advantage are 20” wheels on the SRT? Why not 18” wheels to improve drag strip performance.

How is rain water prevented from entering the open hood scoops on the SRT Challenger?

Does the 6.1 now have an oil dip stick so that we can check the oil level?

How theft-proof is the ignition lock?

Is it true that the computer learns your driving habits and the engine will not “come alive” if you drive too conservatively?

If you have tuned the SRT for maximum performance, why are owners buying tuners like Predator and Diablo to gain more hp?

Please tell us what you think of the new high energy spark plugs - i.e. Halo, Pulstar and like that for improved performance, better fuel economy and reduced emmissions.

Re: SRT Engineers Chat Session - 6/11/08 6pm - 8pm EST

Well boys, thanks as always for doing this! I don't think I have any questions today, but I wanted to publicly thank Gordon for his personal involvement in my 9 month ordeal. I don't know who else became involved in this, but to me this is what makes the difference between a good auto maker and a GREAT one!!! No other auto maker would go to the lengths you guys did and to personally follow it through the build speaks for itself. It was a pleasure meeeting you here in London too. You were a hit at my dealership too BTW. My son-in-law Scott was in awe too and you made a lasting impression on him for sure.

I have a lot of patience and I never gave up hope I'd get my Jeep. I've always had a lot of loyality to Chrysler and I have to think this is my good Karma for being so. Too bad everything didn't work that way. I know I have the only Kicker HP audio system in Canada and I suspect I also have the only Brilliant Black too seeing as ordering has been closed for over 3 months. Now I have two ultra rare SRT8's because my car had quite the history too requiring top level intervention.

The Jeep is perfect in every way as far as I'm concerned and I'm VERY happy about that. Sorry, but I changed the brake pads after 43 km's. Just don't like the dust! The part we discussed came in on Monday and is waiting for me to take it in.

Hey, I'm lovin' the badges too and they're getting a lot of attention...

Anyway, you guys proved to me "Chrysler Listens" and you can tell Jim Press thanks for that too!!! Have him give my dealer a 6 star rating for everything Keith and Bill did for me and for keeping me in the loop. None of us realize it's the "screwy" little things that can impact other things that cause delays. One slight problem though, you might want to speak with Adam Forte. He's slipping on his parking lot duties and left a lung in isle 7...haha.

Jesus, I do have a question after all. What's the lug nut torque for the Jeep? I torqued them to 110 ft lbs like the LX's. Is that correct?

Anyway Gordon, thanks again!!!

Bernie

Re: SRT Engineers Chat Session - 6/11/08 6pm - 8pm EST

Greetings and thanks for taking the time to answer SRT/Challenger related questions.

1) I noticed on the Challenger concept car that there wasn't a whole lot of room for an increase in tire size in the rear to improve "launch" traction. Does the production Challenger have the same space restriction?

2) Is the Suregrip coming out for the 09's an Auburn (cone) or clutch style differential?

Thanks again and I can't wait to place my order for an 09 R/T 5.7 w/manual!
