Tire Questions

I am purchasing some OE 20" Chrome Clad wheels for my Challenger RT, to replace the stock 18" that came on it. I will need the TPMS installed, new tires mounted and balanced and installed. I plan to buy the tires from my local DT. What are you recommendations in 245/45/20? Can you give me an idea of installation costs? (Except for tire purchase price) Do I qualify for any discounts?

Tire size 245/45-20 is an excellent size to run on your application. What are you looking for our of your next set of tires? What tire model are you currently running on and what would you like to approve upon? We would be happy to make a recommendation for you.

As far as installation goes, you'll need to contact your local store directly for complete details. You have the option to purchase new TPMS Sensors for the 20" wheels or have your factory sensors swapped over.

I had planned to go with stock, the Eagle RSA. I have read some reviews and it looks like durability is hit & miss. Do you think it is due to different driving styles or quality control during manufacture? I would like to utilize a well handling tire that is also durable. Stock speed rating would be fine. I do not want to pay an inflated price for a 'name' brand, so if there is a lesser known brand that will give me performance and durability....that's fine with me.

With what you are looking for out of your tires, I suggest taking a close look at the Hankook Ventus V12 EVO.

This Summer Performance tire does extremely well in both wet and dry conditions and is very responsive. Even in the 20" diameter, this model is comfortable to drive.

As for the OEM tires, OEM tires are typically built for comfort and moderate traction, not life. The RSA is a good tire but for what you are looking to do I would give the V12 a shot

I went by the local Discount Tire yesterday to get a quote. They recommended the Nitto tire. What do you think of those for my needs? (They added that they are the Nitto that comes on the SRT8 Jeep).

Nitto makes excellent tires.

Which model did they suggest? Most Nitto tires are hard to come by these days.

I don't believe Nitto offers any OEM tires for the SRT-8 Cherokee.

They do make them in car and SUV sizes.......

Tire size 285/40-20 is the Cherokee SRT8 OE rear size but I'm pretty certain the RSA Run-Flat by Goodyear is the OE tire model.
