Clean the Throttle Body

Hello all,

Wondering if someone can help me out. I've got a 2015 SXT Plus, and I called my dealer (good relationship), and I asked what is involved for the next scheduled maintenance. They gave me a list of things, but all I'm going to pay for right now is the oil change and brake maintenance. I don't think they'll change the pads, but they'll clean up my brakes.

They also suggested cleaning the throttle body, and after it was explained to me, I declined and went to the internet to see about doing it myself. The cost for the dealer to do it was insane, and by all accounts this seems easy - except I can't find anything, anywhere, on how to clean the throttle body of our particular car/engine.

I am new to this, but not afraid to get under the hood and work on it. Just looking for some direction. Is this even necessary? If so, anyone have a link to an explanation on how to do this?

Thanks in advance,

Mimzy

(I love my car more every day)

How many miles?
Look in your owner's manual for required routine maintenance items.

What he said...

How many miles are on your car?

If you have to clean the throttle body, it's only a 10 minute job to get it off. Remove the intake tube. Remove the little plastic electrical connector, then the 4 long bolts that hold it on. There is a gasket there too that can be reused.

2016 SXT+ Airaid CAI. Fastman ported throttle body. Bright pedals. Billet Technology catch can. Petty front shock tower brace. 1 of 524 Plumb-crazy SXT's for 2016.

Thanks guys,

I have almost 27,000 miles on my car, and the dealer suggested this service for $270! (Canadian). Glad I turned it down.

Here is a good DIY video of how to clean a throttle body.
