New Member introduction

Hi,

I am a new member and soon to be a new Challenger owner. Last week I ordered a 2009 Challenger R/T Classic, 6 spd, B5 blue. My dealer stressed that ordering and receiving are two different actions. I also ordered the spare tire ..... I have never been "lucky" enough to be on the side of the road only needing air with a little bit of goo to get underway.

Bob

Welcome to the forum. Congrats on ordering a sweet car. That B5 blue is such a nice color.

Thanks for the encouragement. I stopped by the dealership today and was told that my order had been sent to Chrysler, but Chrysler had not issued a VIN. As this was being explained to me I started thinking of a country song that says “I’d rather hear a bad excuse than have no news”. I find this item odd: the dealership has a large sign informing people they are taking orders for 2010 Challenger, yet they can’t seem to get my 2009 order processed. I really hope there is movement on the construction front. With nothing to do but wait, I have been thinking …… not my strong suit and my wife is just about ready to cancel the order. Recently I found 20-inch tires on sale and suggested that we should stock-up because I did not expect the original tires would last very long. We had a long discussion about her Honda car and how long Honda tires last. In spite of my best efforts, my wife can’t understand why American cars can’t replicate her Honda car standard. It appears that turning without using the steering wheel and creating clouds of smoke, things her Honda car cannot do, are not her idea of fun. Sometimes I wonder why we are married.

OUCH. maybe you should tell your wife the marriage and the challenger are a package deal.

Hondas are great and dependable and blah blah blah. They put real car guys to sleep.

Actually, my wife is wonderful and long-suffering. She gave the OK on the Challenger, which costs just a bit less than our first house and is looking forward to getting the car. She does not understand why I want to start wrenching on a new car with a lifetime warranty. I suspect I went a bit far by suggesting that the extra tires (found on sale) could be stored in the spare bedroom.

I checked with the dealership today, my car is still in BX status and they have a partial VIN. They tell me this is good news, but reading the postings it appears that the status can randomly change and not always in a positive direction. I thinking of installing a “ Challenger Parking Only – Honda cars towed at owner's expense” sign; however, my wife still sore about the tires. Maybe I’ll wait another week or so before I mention the sign.
