Just curious has this missfire happened to anyone from Canada ? My MIL light came on the day i brought the car home i reinstalled the gas cap and it never came back. Also i felt none of the missfire problems. Canadian 09 SRT8 6 speed owners lets hear ya.

Re: Cylinder 7 Missfire

Hi there, I am not from Canada but just got back from the Dodge Service department regarding the same issue. I just picked up my car yesterday (SRT8 with manual) and today the engine light came on. A friend hooked up his diagnostic meter and it showed a misfire on cylinder 7. I set up an appointment to have it looked at today but while waiting I checked this site out and found several other people had the same situation. It appears that when the car idles around 2500 to 2800 it triggers this. On this site, the SRT group said Chysler is aware of this and is in the process of developing a flash (like a patch for a computer) to fix this. It does not appear to affect your car as it does become annoying when the engine light flashes and alarms. Hope this helps.

Larry

Re: Cylinder 7 Missfire

Hi ALL,
I'm from Quebec and have 600 miles on the Beast.
No issues (so far), but the car is on jack stands awaiting Spring.

Build date Oct,2008.

"Idles" ?? - that's a pretty high idle. You must mean "cruising", right?

Also, (and this just came to mind), but does it happen in any particular gear?

And how long does the engine have to stay at 2,500-2,800 to trigger it ?
Can you trigger it by holding the throttle at this RPM with the car in neutral and the car sitting still ?

So it doesn't run rough enough to cause any significant loss of power then ?

MM3,
Driving in 2nd or 3rd gear @ ~ 2800 rpm for 20 sec. has triggered this for me.
A Chrysler tech was able to monitor this with starscan while "parked" and reving the engine to 2800 rpm.

So does "was able to monitor this" mean that he was able to trigger the fault (while parked) ?

Thanks,
MM3
