6.1 Hemi in an R/T?

This is probably a stupid question but I was wondering, Is there any way to somehow special order a base model R/T with the 6.1? I would really like to get the 6.1 but I don't want all the other extras that come with the SRT8. To me all the other options are taking money away from performance mods and adding weight to the car. An R/T with the 'F' package, the 6 speed, and a 6.1 would be the perfect car for me. Thanks for your help.

I doubt it. Besides, the 'extras' are well worth it and contribute to the performance of the car. If you drive a Charger R/T and a SRT, you'll see that there is more than the engine to the driving experience.

Full engine swap would be your only option here. With the price that would cost you, it would be wiser to just build the 5.7 up.

Go with the PPP 392. 400 horses at the wheels will smoke most SRTs!

Yea just get a bare bones R/T and build up the 5.7.... There are a lot of gains to be had there.

Re: 6.1 Hemi in an R/T?

Guys, if the R/T had most of the SRT goodies, why would anyone spend $11K more and buy an SRT? Dodge has to make the SRT somewhat exclusive.

Re: 6.1 Hemi in an R/T?

thats true, there are alot of equipment upgrades that are not options on the R/T, but the modders out there, srt could easily be surpassed for slightly more money. I think for most people, it will be whether or not they can get front the money it takes to get the srt over the r/t and stay within their means.

That would be just like the "good old days". A car that will haul ass and not handle or stop. Its not a stupid question, just a stupid idea.

Re: 6.1 Hemi in an R/T?

There are big differences between the Daytona Charger and the SRT Charger. The brakes alone would be enough for me to dish out the extra cash. The suspension is different too!

If it is economics that are making you feel that way, just put a supercharger on a 5.7 with 6 pounds of boost. Around 5-6 thousand plus installation and you will have a 450 HP R/T
