ESP Off?

I know the basic R/T package comes with ESP, but does it have an ESP-off feature?

Re: ESP Off?

Only full off with TrakPak....automatics have it on partially all the time. There are several Mods that can eliminate it.

Re: ESP Off?

I'll put this as simply as possible. Will I be able to do a burn-out with the auto-stick R/T?

Re: ESP Off?

Yes, but it won't light them up as easily as a 6-speed car. You should be able to do a short burn out by just stabbing the throttle from a stand still but to do a longer burn out you'll need to hold the brake.

Re: ESP Off?

Couple ways to do it. Put the AutoStick in first, hold brake, slam gas. Leave it in drive, hit brake, slam gas.

Re: ESP Off?

I posted this in another topic responding to another person...

Also, about the traction control/ESP not being able to be turned off on these recent reviews. I was talking with someone who got to drive a 6 speed challenger at englishtown, and he couldn't turn it off fully either, and it was interfering with his driving. I'm getting worried that maybe it won't be an option to turn it off fully on production models either.

The more I think about it, the more I think you won't be able to turn it off fully. The shutoff switch offered with the rt will most likely still have some nanny features. Why do I speculate this? Number 1...the production 6 speed cars tested don't let you turn it off fully...and number 2, the rt has a lifetime powertrain warranty. Do you think they'll let you disable a feature that lets you beat on said drivetrain and put it under more stress?

Just speculation on my part. Plus, the guy I know who tested it in englishtown emailed chris nowak (he works for a car mag) to ask him about the ESP and fully disabling it on the RT, and from the way it sounds they want to implement it, but they don't have a timeframe in mind yet. This email was recent, so I don't think it's gonna make it into our 09 6 speed challengers.

Re: ESP Off?

OK, now you are starting rumors. It sounds like the guy who tested didn't know how to fully turn off ESP. From my understanding you need to hold down the ESP button for over 7 seconds.

Re: ESP Off?

It was my understanding that with the Trak Pak, the ESP was able to be fully disabled. As far as the warranty goes, as soon as they can prove abuse, the warranty is out the window anyway.
