functional hood scoops in the rt?

Just saw a recent car and driver article today, and it says:

Speaking of functional ducts, the hood scoops on all Challengers do indeed contribute to engine-bay ventilation

Just wondering what peoples thoughts are on this, as the common thought was that just the srt8 model allowed airflow. That seems strange though because in pic the black inserts in the scoops look the same, and making two different hoods doesn't make any sense Maybe this is the "redesign" that was alluded to in the mopar nationals rumors.

Re: functional hood scoops in the rt?

If the R/T's dont have functional scoops for cooling the engine compartment, they are a 5 second pop out and you can pop in the SRT ones.

Re: functional hood scoops in the rt?

Yea, I'll be changing mine. In fact, I may put in the open ones in summer and use the solid ones in winter (keeps the snow out - he he).

Re: functional hood scoops in the rt?

I'm sure at driving speeds, you're going to get some "ram-air" to help cool and force out some engine bay heat.

Yup and bugs. After a 600km drive (360 miles) opened up the hood and there is definatley the markings of a few bugs scattered in there.

Nnnaaaa.....As small as the openings are, it will be a miniscule amount if any.
