Huge.. lack of aftermarket goodness for our 5.7s?

Okay, guys.. I've been looking at buying some VERY VERY basic stuff. Lowering springs, CAI, Off-road H-pipe, and a DiabloSport tuner. I've found exactly ONE item off of that list, after spending almost two hours looking. I mean, what's up with this? Are the 5.7's not known for aftermarket potential? I can't find ANYTHING, to be honest. So, I guess this thread is to say; if you know where to buy good Challenger\5.7 stuff, post the links here. Because I honestly can't find anything.

Re: Huge.. lack of aftermarket goodness for our 5.7s?

For the springs, you may find Eibach has these for the Challenger.

Another tip: thinner spring isolator pads.

These LX and LC cars use the Mercedes E-class suspension (W210 chassis) - the spring pads (isolator pads) are commonly changed out to lower the ride height and you can keep the stock springs - or change the spring pads and get lowering springs for even more ride height reduction.

Since this model just came out - probably within a year there will be more stuff.

It might be the buyer for Chargers wasn't into the modding as I suspect will happen with the Challenger buyers.

I'd say Challenger buyers are far more likely to mod. The Chally is ALMOST a niche car, in the way that it's a 2-door, rwd, good ol' boys Muscle Car.

Re: Huge.. lack of aftermarket goodness for our 5.7s?

The 5.7L aftermarket is really not going to start putting out parts until the cars hit the streets within the next month or two. Within the first month we tested and confirmed well over 100 parts for the Challenger 6.1L models and our list is growing almost daily. I have numerous parts for the 5.7L's but until we either test them or the manufacturer's release them for the application, most of the parts won't or at least shouldn't be put out there just yet.

Your list:

Lowering springs: they work as intended on these cars but we expect that the Challenger will face the same dilemma that the LX cars have and that is that there is no good lowering shock/strut on the market. Lowering the LX's results in blown shocks after about 6 months to a year and the drive on heavier cars such as these leaves a little to the imagination. Our recommendation is to either go with coilovers (combined spring/shock) which will run the same price in the long run as lowering springs and shocks or to at a minimum upgrade to the SRT-8 suspension which assuming all things being equal, will have probably about an inch drop off the R/T's stance.

Right now we are the only company with off road mid-pipes for the 5.7L cars. The 2965SY in our webstore will fit the Challenger we are 99% sure of but we need to test it before we release it. An H or an X pipe is not needed on the mid-pipes since almost every cat-back utilizes and X connection in some way or form. There's no need for another connection in the system. The H, if you really wanted one, would probably need to be built into your cat-back.

CAI's, we have lots. Practically every CAI you see out that fits the 5.7L Charger/Magnum/300C will fit the 5.7L Challenger. We just need to test them. Our recommendation is to go with something like the AFE Stage 2 or RDP CAI for your Challenger.

And, of course, the Diablo Predator. It should fit the 5.7L's almost right away. The programming is done for the 5.7L automatics of course and the update will be out shortly as soon as the 5.7L hits the market for the 6-speed vehicles. We can tell the cars that they are manual now with our CMR software, so we know that the programming for the 6-speed shouldn't delay any release of their handheld tunes.

I would also suggest complimenting your package with a 180 degree thermostat. You'll be able to turn down your fan settings with your Diablo and keep the car from going into heat soak mode as it passes 200 degrees coolant temp.

Just my suggestions, lol

Re: Huge.. lack of aftermarket goodness for our 5.7s?

That helped a ton, mate. Thank you very much. I'm new to the HEMI engine modification thing, and I've just noticed there aren't an abundance of sites that sell 5.7 stuff, that I can find. I'll def. give your site a shot. Also; if you need a tester for those mid-pipes around late-november, let me know, I'll be glad to be your gerbil. :P

Classic Design Concepts will be debuting some cool new products at SEMA this year, including (if they have it done in time) their new shaker kit.

Definately planning on doing the Toys For Tots fundraiser. It's been such a huge success the past two years. We should start kicking it into gear come October.

Re: Huge.. lack of aftermarket goodness for our 5.7s?

Parts will come with time... even the LS1 f-bodies didn't have much out there when they hit the streets, but now there's everything under the sun.

Patience is the real problem!
