This 2015 we bought is our first new car. I've had 3 new trucks, she has had a new CRV, but the Challenger is the only "car".
We love it. The power is only one feature we like about the car. The brakes, the handling, the comfort....It all factors in. We saved and paid cash for ours because we didn't want to make payments. If I had to save $$$ for the SRT, I'd still be waiting and possibly miss out on getting a B-5 car.
Screw that. The R/T in B-5 is plenty good enough for us.
Ehh.. If you are going forced induction, the RT could be a lot faster. IF you are going NA, it's going to probably take a cam and some headers plus a tune and exhaust to be around or slightly stronger than the 392.
I'm happy with my car.
What I don't understand is why, whether someone else is happy or not with their car, it should matter as to how happy you are with yours.
Your post sure sounds like regret to me, and that is fine, just own it.
Dont mix the point of the thread, its not a rub the back of my hand and tell me its ok thread..
Strickly boredom and curiousity. Your opinion about my car doesnt mean anything to me. It was more of a you and your car with a similar situation
Not regret, but wondering thats all.
edit.... ok AND the point was, I felt left out by not having a multiple page post about inconsequential opinions. Seems like everyone else here has one
Bought the RT, 2015, 6 speed. Really couldnt afford (without some rearranging) to get a Scat Pack car. Would have liked one because I think there is no such thing as too much HP, but LOVE my car.
I am very happy with my decision. My car is a daily driver. I was REALLY happy when a guy had his 2015 SP car, black, 6 speed at the track a few weekends ago. He ran a 13.5. I ran a 13.7. He complained about the track. I did not complain. Also beat up on a 2010 SRT8. Point is- the other folks should be faster but I know what I got and I have a blast with the car- they did not have as much fun and I spent less money than both... I was simply happy my car went a 13.7. I love the car, it does what it is supposed to as a daily driver by my standards, and is just as fast as the magazines say.
IF i bought my car for a toy, I would expect it to be faster and likely would have bought a SP car. My Pontiac is a car that will continue to be modded. When I first ran it, I went 15.1-15.4. it now runs a 14.0ish. It will do better than that this year. Next year- will be even faster. Thats my toy. I wont be satisfied with it being slower than my daily driver! LOL
I bought my R/T at a time when there wasn't all that much difference (at least from a straight line acceleration stand point) between an R/T and an SRT. After I got it I wanted some more power so I did all the typical easy bolt on's, then added a high stall converter and MTCM. That got me into the high 12's and was a fun car to surprise Camaros and Mustangs with at the track. But alas I wanted more so when the SRT Core came out I ordered one of those, so far I'm pretty happy with the power of the 392 but of course I could use a bit more LOL. For those that like horsepower and drag racing they will probably always want a bit more, just human nature I guess. Ultimately you have to decide what's important to you and how much you want to spend. The R/T can be made faster but then so can the SRT or any car, it's just a matter of where do you want to start from when stock.
I think a lot of us bought the R/T knowing that it may not be "enough" but it was the most cost effective choice. But once its paid down and you get some equity, then you get the SRT or SP.
It's like the old days of GM.....start with the Chevy, then eventually a Poncho, Olds, then Buick, and when the kids are out of the house, get that Caddy (in this case, Hellcat).

of course I expect answers like that. I mean, thats how i answer threads like this!
yes, someone is always faster. that is irrelevant as that wasnt the point
at the time of the original post, yours or anyones answers werent said yet, none to read.
thank you for your thoughts on your car. thats what i was after.
btw, the entire forum is dead horse. if it werent for repeatitive threads like this, what would we do all day?
Mine was Mid life crisis LOL, but I'm having fun with my R/T' I will post pics when it's done, it being custom painted as we speak, when it's done it will look like an old school Hot Rod.
Stock horsepower, no it's not enough for me. But when I bought my 2014 "Blacktop Edition" R/T I got such a smoking deal on it I couldn't resist. Out the door for $27,000.00 with Super Track Pack Suspension, Bilstein Shocks, Black Factory Rims, Leather Seats, and an already lowered stance, I knew I got a good deal! I think retail on the Blacktops were $38,000.00. With me getting such a great deal on my R/T, from day one I knew I was going mod the hell out of it. I figured if I had bought an SRT at say $51,000.00 + taxes, which was kinda out of my price range, that left me with say $24,000.00 to mod my R/T over time. And slowly but surely I'm modding my R/T to be a beast!!
It used to be about cool, friendly, knowledgable car guys & gals trading tips & tricks and sharing the thrills of all things about Challengers. Lately it's more about whining & moaning and comparing all the time, mostly from people with low self-esteem.
I bought my R/T knowing full well it's not fastest out there. Who freakin' cares? It's an awesome, fun, roomy daily driver that I look forward to driving every single day.
Do I daydream about more power? Sure. But not enough to make me regret my purchase. When that day comes that I do regret it, I won't moan about it. I'll trade and keep it moving. That's life, son.
When I got my 12 R/T the HP & TQ was plenty. When I found myself getting a little bored with the HP I started to use the paddle shifters a lot more and REALLY driving the car harder kinda like a new lease on life.
When I got bored with that I bought an SP. but I sure do miss my Header Orange though!
Yeah, you build up a tolerance to it like people do with drugs, and you find yourself thinking it would be nice if it had more. But I have to stay realistic.
i regret not getting the torred and the tap shift automatic.the bigger engine is nice but unless your going to the track the 5.7 can get you into trouble if you go looking for it.how fast can you wanna go.it will still get me from 65 to 100 in 15 seconds on the hiway going around the left lane road hogs...its the look of the car that got you to buy one..i know thats what got me to buy one
