Stock 09 R/T Track Pack Dyno Run WTF?

I put my R/T on the dyno yesterday evening and I am kinda confused. My first run the results were 288hp/312tq and it felt great. I let it cool for a few minutes and ran it again and it was less. The second run was only 274hp/301tq. Of coarse the ABS light came on at first because my front tires were not moving, I get that. But after the first run the brake light, esp, and traction light came on as well. I could feel the difference, it felt like I was only at 60-70% throttle even when I floored it. It also took about twice as long,it seemed, for me to redline on the second run. I quess that it was torque management holding power back. Has anyone ran into this before? I did realize I didnt turn off esp my first run, that would make a difference there. But on the second run I had no control over that. The light was on in the dash and it didnt matter if I hit the button or not. Another thing that was odd is after I ran the second time it didnt take no time at all for it to coast to a stop. I would imagine it took 4 or 5 minutes the first run, for it to come to a complete stop in nuetral. Well on the second run it probably took 15 seconds after i let off. Thanks in advance for any feedback. I am kinda puzzled on the whole situation. I am pretty sure that it is torque management or traction control messing me up. Is there anyway to completely disable these things? Does anyone have any idea how close predator is to having a programmer for the 09? My buddy has a Mustang Dyno at his shop at his house and loves to use it. I plan on putting the catback, cai, and tuning. I want to be able to dyno every time I mod.

Could it be the Hill Start Assist stepping in? No clue. What kind of dyno were you on? Those numbers don't like right at all.

Yes, it shouldn't engage. But that's the only thing I could think of. You're running supposedly 375hp at the crank. There's no way you have a parasitic loss of over 18% with a manual transmission. Something doesn't add up.

I agree, from reading around in this forum I was expecting about 305-310hp. My buddy that has the dyno has a srt8 superbee and he had wierd thing like that before he tuned it. He was able to cut all those things off. I am beginning to thing I cant dyno until I tune.

Re: Stock 09 R/T Track Pack Dyno Run WTF?

White,

It does seem like your traction control was messing you up.

Try this: Roll on the dyno >10mph, then turn the key to the start position (starter motor won't engage). Hold it there until the traction control light & ESP/BAS light come on (you will hear a ding) in about three seconds.

Now the ESP & traction control is completely disabled as long as the engine remains running. Try another run as you should now have full power.

I would be interesting to do back to back to back runs with and with out disabling the ESP & TC which would prove this as the cause of you initial disappointment.

Hope this helps, and let us know how you make out.

Great, I will have to try that, it will probably be a week or so b4 I have a chance to get it back on the dyno. Should I push in the clutch when I turn the key at 10mph? Thanks for your help

Not necessary. I have confirmed that it works at any speed from ~10mph to ~65mph. Come to think of it, I never tried it with the car stopped, but somebody here reported that the car has to be moving. The system goes back to normal when to turn off the car, then re-start.

See my thread titled "sideways" which is in here somewhere.

Re: Stock 09 R/T Track Pack Dyno Run WTF?

them are good numbers on a mustang dyno look up mbrp's stock r/t on their mustang dyno. a mustang dyno will typicly read 25hp or so lower than a dyno jet.

on my dyno all my lights light up. i didnt do i but i wish i did but didnt know the trick at the time. use the key trick to disable esp completly before your dyno runs. if we ever get the predator it will have a dyno mode option that turns all that stuff off for us for one key cycle

Re: Stock 09 R/T Track Pack Dyno Run WTF?

I tried the key thing riding around and it works, I didnt not try it stopped. I heard that about the mustang dyno b4. I heard that it was more accurate because of the whole magnet thing.
