Re: Why very little r/t badgeing?

I'm fine with the grille & spoiler R/T badges, i think the hood to fender dual stripe would look even better IF the " R/T " were "swept" or leaning like the grille emblem or vintage emblems, not straight like shown in the brochure.

Re: Why very little r/t badgeing?

Hood to fender stripes are love em or hate em, I think the correct size r/t chrome & red emblem in just the right spot on the front fender (close to the original location on a '70) would add a nice touch?.?. As far as the original post, i don't know for sure if the actual production r/t's will come with the r/t emblem on the right side of the rear spoiler??? Who knows...?

You guys may have already seen this but a while back Steeler had posted some information on this in Kudakid's thread "Got my 2009 RT 6 speed". He thought that the emblem from a 69 Coronet would be the approximate size to fit the rear spoiler. See below.

I'm 95% certain that the a 69 Coronet R/T trunklid emblem will fit. Actually I picked one up at Carlisle and put it up against the R/T that Chrylser brought. Looks like a fit to me. Two problems arise with this emblem. One, is that it's pegged. So the two pegs in the rear have to be removed and some 3M two-sided tape has to be installed to mount it. That took about 20 minutes to do. The second problem is vintage R/T emblems has 2 red letters and a chrome clash in between. When Chrysler reintroduced the heritage nameplates they substituted a red slash. So in a nutshell the slash has to be painted to match the grillle nameplate. I used testors red to duplicate it.

Here's the finished result. Just waiting for the car to see how it looks.

By the way the total measurements is. 1 1/2in High by 3 1/2 wide

You did an awesome job painting the slash. In the pics that showed the new R/T with the rear spoiler emblem, it appeared that it was recessed a bit. Did you get this impression. Obviously this is not possible for us to do.

I'll have to find an on-line NOS Dodge Coronet catalogue and order an emblem like you have. They'll probably hit me for more to shipping alone than you paid at Carlysle.

How did you remove the posts? I'll likely grind them flat on a bench grinding wheel.

I didn't grind them. I just grasped the post with a slim pair of needlenose pliers and twisted them off. I used a straight edge to make sure that ther area was flush before putting on the tape.

Re: Why very little r/t badgeing?

I'd be happy if there were just two R/T badges - the one in the grille as they are now, and one on the right side of the rear spoiler like the SRT8 badge is now.

Simple and clean look with out too much going on.
