Yes they are ! Had to pull the Auto 3.5 due to timing belt failure , got a used one from eBay same vin code but the flywheel is thicker on the standard also the bottom 2 holes on the standard block won't line up with a Auto trans.
Manual trans applications have flywheels (thicker and the clutch friction disc operates against this)
Auto trans applications have a flex-plate - its essentially the means to connect the crank to the torque converter. They are much thinner as they simply are the physical connection from crank to transmission.
The manual 3.5 probably was used in the other Jeep models - in the passenger car lines, the 3.5 was automatic trans.
Yup, nailed it but never used in any Jeeps, it was only used in cars and looking at the cars I don't see any that had a 3.5L with a manual transmission so this is all kinds of weird. Sounds like trainwreck overall for the OP.
It's in the car and doing good . But yea it was a WTF SWAP. still unsure
about the 2 lower bolts mis alignment between standard trans block and Auto trans block
The exchange Motor is from a standard shift 09 challenger se that was totaled in Florida with 41000 miles My original engine is in my shop getting rebuilt both were vin code G
There were never any V6 Challengers with a manual transmission from the factory. Sounds like someone hacked around to make the swap work and you got the engine from that. Glad to hear it's working now, at least.
Wow! The **** we find out later. I will try to find the seller and post it. The pic on e bay of the wreck with the Motor still in has the same grease pin numbers on it that I received.
So previous owner hacked a 09 and put a standard in it and no one knew any difference.
