do you have any regrets that you didn't get the R/T model which doesn't cost that much more, or even regret not getting the SRT if you find the SXT underpowered? If So Why? What is the SXT lacking that makes you opt for the R/T or SRT instead?:dunno:
No regrets on mine... but for me, the SXT was right at the limit of my budget, so I never really considered the R/T.
I use my SXT as a daily driver, and love the fact that it gets almost the same amount of attention and complimentary remarks as the V8 versions do.
I'll admit that I bought the Challenger mostly for the looks and retro styling, so performance (other than gas mileage) wasn't much of a factor for me. having said that, I'm pretty happy with the peppy 305 hp of the V6. Plenty of power for everyday driving... and the ride is extremely comfortable to boot!
If you're into performance or want more of a muscle car sound, then it's worth spending the extra for the R/T. The gas mileage difference isn't that significant, and the R/T isn't that much more... especially if you start adding options to the SXT.
I think it really comes down to why you want a Challenger. If you mostly want a great-looking car for daily driving and cost is a big factor, then the SXT will probably make you as happy as mine has made me. But if you want more performance and can spend a little bit more, you won't regret the upgrade to the R/T.

I went in for an R/T, test drove a SXT 3.6 and was blown away and ordered the same day! Dealer then asked if I wanted to test drive a SRT I declined the offer lol.
For the what I paid for a loaded SXT I could have gotten an bone stock R/T. No thanks, in no rush reaching the red light before u.
I originally bought an SE model and drove it for over a year before the upgrade to an R/T. My biggest quirks from the SE were the stereo and lack of power compared to the R/T. It had a lot of power for a 6-banger but didn't have that push you to the back of your seat feeling. I do miss the gas mileage I got in the SE though. Was nice to use as a daily driver and only fill up twice a month at most. Now I fill up nearly every week.
No regrets here. I test drove the SRT8, but decided it was waaay too much car for me. I'm coming from a 2005 Scion XB, so my SXT is more than enough car for me. Also, I got a great deal for it, and am essentially paying less for it than I did for the Scion!

hasn't this general discussion been beat to death in your previous "why R/T over SRT?" thread.
Are you honsetly expecting some new epiphany of knowledge with this thread?
there are a million different reason to choose one trim level over another but...cost is most likely the biggest factor.
I do regret my se in some cases and thats simply because i live my life by never settling for anything but the best, its not the se doesnt have good power and what not...its that i know there is better (better in my eyes is more power) out there...ive owned cars with way less power but was completely happy because they were the top of the top and had no other options in term of power and that was alrighy by me.
i think if id bought the r/t id still feel the same way knowing i could have had the 6.1 and now the 392....both which are way out of my price range...
The reason i bought my se is because of the price i paid for it brand new...there was an 11k differece between my se and the cheapest r/t i could find and about a 27k difference for a 6.4 srt...to much coin for the differences in power...if there would have been only a 5k or less difference betweeb the se and the r/t id be driving a r/t right now...
Although im interested to see what my feeling is once i supercharge my se...it will either keep me in the car or ill be selling it...
We shall see...
If your power monger like me and/or always want the best that one can have...i suggest looking at the v8's...

We have had our well equipped '11 Rallye for almost 18 months now and my wife and I still love it. The car is my wife's daily driver, so with her driving habits in mind the R/T was never really an option, especially since getting one with the same accoutrements was $5000 or $6000 more (don't remember the number any more but I did look into it thoroughly).
no regrets whatsoever. very happy with my decision. especially with me being a 21 year old student, cant really afford a v8, the insurance, maintenance and gas for a v8.
22 year old here. Active duty e3 so my pay is not the best. I have my challenger=fun car and a charger= family car. Having a newborn in december. Price for these are in my range. both cars fully insured 150 a month. Price for r/t srt out of my range. And people say well why do u have 2 cars then well cuz im having a baby, and if i had the srt or 392 id drive it hella fast which Is not a good idea for me. To top it off I used to race in my 350z, twin turbo over 700 horse to the wheel an I barely walked away from a sever crash, why do i want to race a srt and ruin the car and possibly my life. The se works well for me. Just tuned it and it semmed to have gained some balls. I get tyons of looks per day. Im not hurting for money, I never worry about gas. and I have plenty of money to make it look even better ie rims, sound etc. Im perfectly happy with this car. Im not knee deep in car payments either as mine combined are not even half of what some people pay for the srt models.
Within a month I regretted it. I plan to trade up for a preowned srt8. While the R/T is a beast and I would take it in a heartbeat too (my uncle has a 2012 I have driven)... the test drive I took in a 392 sealed my fate.
But this is my personal feeling. I'm young with no family no marriage and want what I want...More power and a hemi rumble.
I'm saving for a house right now and also own 2 horses, so an srt8 is out of my reach for a little while.. but the day will come
No, they are not functional. I believe the R/T Classic includes them as a standard feature. And of course the SRT's.
I hear it is an easy upgrade for $80 bucks or so.
I have a 2012 SXT+ with the 26G, SST package. Mine is a daily driver and I think the HP is fine for the V6, the SST package adds the 3.08 rear gear, which helps. I've had mine for about 7 weeks now, LOVE IT! I've got more thumbs up and comments on the looks since I've owned it! Gets around fine when you want to push the pedal to the metal! I didn't want to pay the extra $8-$10,000 for a V8 (R/T) which is about 75 hp more. Besides, I get my other car out if I really want to feel HP!
I totally Regret not waiting a bit and finding a good priced R/T for maybe 2 grand more. I find my SXT too slow, i want a manual. But the RT was JUST out of my price range, i dont know how to drive manual, but i could learn quick (first drove a M6 2SS '11 Camaro and didnt stall it so whatever) and 95% of challengers around here are SXT. blah
But a SXT keeps me from completely worrying about it too much, but enough to park away from people and check it when im at school every lunch (grade 12 this year)
So i would have got a R/T if i could have found one in the right price range i needed (33grand taxes in) Needed to be a '11.
Also..Compared my SXT '11 Auto to Hemifried R/T Classic 6spd '11 he gets better fuel mileage than me and we both drive it daily and like we stole them.
Jeeze.. must be the coolest kids in school driving those!
I didn't even have my licence in high school and those who did were lucky to drive a cavalier or sunfire lol..
Aha, I dont know if i am Im not very social out side of a group of 2-6 people, Outside of that i normally just have my earphones in and listening to music or im in class doing the same thing lol work and music. But it does catch the attention. I even show up an hour earlier than classes so i can grab the farther parking spot. So the challenger is the only one in that lot for at least 20-30 minutes.
I do often get comments from other students like "Is that actually you car?" or "Do you want to race?" other times its "Nice car!" or "Do a burnout"
and teachers give me compliments on the car too, and the principle too (she is a car person.) but i try my best to keep it clean during the school year. I have a tendency to take the money i would use to eat lunch and just clean my car sometime during the week.
Although my SE (same as SXT) really has all the power I need since I don't race it, in retrospect I sometimes regret not doing more research up front. I might have purchased a pre-owned 2010 R/T. Mainly for the tuning capabilities since I believe the 2011+ V6 cars will never have a third party tune available. I really hope I am wrong about this but I don't think I am.
