Talking Awesome Push start button mod

Right guys, i ordered the under hood kit from Billet Tech and as i have a 6 speed i had a trans cover left over, rather than putting that R/T engraved badboy in the draw i looked for somewhere to place it and it turns out that it is a perfect fit for my start button.

Use a dash pry tool or simular to pull the black overlay off (i got a red cover over it), remove the plastic silver bezel (leave off), Try to push the overlay into the recess at the back of the BT cover then trim/scrape the edges of the overlay slightly with a blade for a snug fit, click the overlay back into the main part of the start stop and push the BT cover over it.

Hey presto a stunning easy mod when fitted you should be able to twist it slightly to get the position of the engraving level.

Enjoy!!!

That IS a good inexpensive find! Just don't tell BT. They'll double the price LOL.

Not to be the "glass half empty" guy, but what if GOd forbid you get the key not detected message??? Just a thought. It would suck being stuck somewhere and can't get it started, but w/o the mod you could of. Looks great though!!!

Reasons for working:
2010 Challenger R/T
2005 Seamus (son)
2001 Yamaha VStar 1100

P.S. Definatly not in any order

well it works!! as all you do is take the front off your existing module and put a cover on it, your key is in your pocket and if things go wrong which they wont as ive had this mod since before Xmas you can pull out the stop start AS NORMAL and use the key AS NORMAL

Thats pretty cool, but words of warning. The billet could cause a problem with the antitheft device on the cars and actually turn the car off.

I do not know the exact ramifications on the Challenger with the push button, and I do have an email to someone in the know at Chrysler that could answer if the metal could cause a jamming of the anit theft device.

We learned the hard way on my husbands Magnum we we made a ring to go around the key area and the car would start then stall. We locked the brain out and the reflash was expensive. However, when we tested it on our Charger there were no issues.

Right now I would advise against this, but will pass on information when I have it from an engineer.

Thanks BT but its been more than 4 months now and im still running my car every day with no problem, the push start is a removable unit and the metal doesnt come into contact with anything electrical.

In addition, because it sits out slightly from the dash its easier to remove if necessarysmiles all round.
