Does yours have the small "TIME" button to the right of the CD slot?

Press that briefly and it should display it while in operation.

On various models, you can push the time button and it can swap the CD track time/ radio frequency for the clock display. On some it can show both, and toggles small / large displays between radio / CD info vs. the clock.
