Found this little guy today

Just dropped a friend off after getting some lunch. I look over towards the passenger side and see my air vent like this:

Obviously it should look like this:

Anyone else run into this problem? What the hell caused it? I didn't do anything over there, since people rarely sit passenger. Not sure how long it has been like that, either.

Finally, do I have to replace the part er what?

I think he means the left corner of the trim is separated from the dash. Took me a while too. I was never good at those compare pictures thing.

I have seen other vent issues similar, but usually in cars with a lot of miles and/or a lot of years on them.

If I had to venture a guess on yours, I would say it's directly related to your local climate, i.e. the extreme temp swings from day to night and back again, (not to mention the occasional uber-extreme cool downs your A/C's cold air bring when turned on after sitting in the sun) causes the dash material and plastic vent insert to expand/contract at slightly different rates, eventually leading to the insert popping out slightly when everything lines up just right (or perfectly wrong?).

I wouldn't worry about it too much, though I agree it is a little unwelcome in a top-o-line trim like the SRTs. If it starts happening too often, you might be able to just replace the vent insert with a new one and be done with it, but that's purely a guess as well.

What extreme temp swings. 57 for a low last night and 95 today (115 in the car). That's only a 38 degree swing. Or 58 degrees for the dash. I can't wait for summer!

It is stuck outwards, pushing it in did nothing.

'15, and it should be for another 8 months or so. I think I will take it in, and see if they'll give it to me. I don't want to fart around with taking my PCM out, and I don't particularly wanting them to touch my car more than they have to.

Ah, okay, then yeah replacing that vent insert is going to be your only recourse I bet.
