silver rings on guage cluster

does anyone know or have done. pulling off the silver rings on the guage cluster.. I am wanting to do something with it if possible but don't want to just start yanking and break it. i didn't know if it is clipped on, glued ect.

I have lightly dinked around with trying to remove them on my 09 but no joy...I think they are glued in

They aren't glued in. They are melted on to tabs in the back of the cluster. I removed my gauge cluster and ground off the melted "balls", saving the tabs for reconnecting. When I get the cluster back from hydro-dipping, I will simply melt the tabs again with a plastic welder
