Steering Wheel Inserts

Hey Guys,

I just purchased a new 2012 RT, so it has those 3 silver painted inserts on the steering wheel. I'd really like to paint them. Does anyone know how to remove them?

Thanks...

Good question. I am looking for the same answer. I think we're gonna have to take the airbag off and it should be easy to figure it out from there. I'm just nervous about taking the airbag off, but other posts, referring to the 2010's all say it's really easy. I may try it this weekend, if so, I'll let you know.

Sorry, didn't notice how old your post was until I posted. Did you already figure it out? And want to share how it's done?

If you watch this video you will get a good idea of how to do it properly. Not sure about the 11+ steering wheels but I cannot see them being very different from the earlier model versions with regards to the basics.

Okay link did not work so shot me your email and I will send it to you privately.

Remove the airbag first. The inserts unscrew with T15 torx bits from behind. The buttons have connectors so don't pull too hard. There is a thread on how to remove the airbag on 11+ models re: badge replacement.

Kivuli: In your signature line, I noticed the "purple cup holder LEDs." Can you post a pic of those? I might like to try that next. Thanks.
