So I just recently got a Chally SXT 2012 (bummer V6 I know...)
I went from a class Benz to this American landyacht, so far I love every piece of it. EXCEPT the shift plate. Is there any mod I can do to make it just a bit more exciting then the black plastic that sits there staring at me?

It's not overly difficult to remove if you wanted to paint it yourself, or wrap it with a high quality stick-on. The shiny trim ring pops up. Just take a flathead, slip it into a rag and slide that in near the cupholder straight down. Then gently pry up and the trim should start coming out. It IS breakable, so work it slowly around the edges. I suggest going from back to front. If you start from the sides you're libel to bend the tabs on the opposite side.
Here's the hole it comes out of (taken from the bottom of the console's top piece):
Here's the best shot of the shifter plate I've got:
Looked like it was removable with a little effort on the tabs, but breakable.
go to custombilletstore.com. billet technologies has some sick stuff. tons of colors in anodized aluminum as well as custom engravings. I replaced my shift plate right away with an anodized purple aluminum plate and the mopar logo it looks pretty sick id have to say.
The Hurst shifter kit is a great investment. It gives the interior the hotrod feel that it ought to have. If I was a dealer, I'd put one in every car on my floor. And, you can have fun deciding which shifter knob you want.
