Detailing / Car CareWant to talk about detailing your Dodge Challenger? Are you fanatical about the care and upkeep of your Challenger? Tell us about it in here.
Does anyone have any experience with this product? I took my car in to get detailed and he convinced me to put it on the front end and the headlights, saying it will help protect it from chips. Did I just buy a big piece of tape on the front of my car or does this actually work?

Let me put it to you this way Nebula, a clearbra mask for your fascia and rocker panels is the number one best non-performance mod you can add to your Challenger. Works fantastic and does great job of repelling nasty rocks and pebbles. Like others, I use the 3M product and would highly recommend letting a pro installer do it for you. Takes a long time and requires a certain skill, it's not quite like doing a window tint.
Has anyone got the xylon coating from the dealership? Wondering if there is a product you can use on it. Not supposed to have to wax it or anything. I have it on both of my Chally's and seemsto work great as far as just having to wipe it down.

So what would one expect to pay for a job like you describe above. I for one would love to do at least the front bumper. Seems to be the area to get most abuse. Plus it would be nice to wipe the bugs off and not worrying about scratching the finish.
Which brings another question. How hard is this stuff to remove later and will you mar your finish by trying to take it off? I imagine at some point you will need to have it redone and just wondering what kind of punishment it does to the finish.

I have it on all my cars and it's money very well spent. I suggest you have a professional do it as it is no easy task.

I got the Venturshield on mine. The pro that installed it told me to stay away from the 3M products as the adhesive they use is more aggressive and the Venturshield wont peel or discolor the paint. Definatley a must have product though. I dont know about the rockers as they are just black plastic but the front end is a must!. You can even do your side view mirrors to prevent rock chips.
Sniper- JohnMan in our DFW group has this and it's awesome.
Not cheap; I think over $1K for the entire kit, fascia, rocker panels, top of rear bumper.
The front of my car has about a dozen chips in it- wish I would have put that on at the beginning but hey, the money went into performance items (can't blame a guy for that).

Yea I knew someone from that 1st meet (that I was at) had it done. Actually, I thought it was you. Boy $1k is steep and I just did tint and getting ready to pull trigger on resonator delete. But $1k is definitely not in my budget right now. Guess just need to stay off tollway (sandblast bumper) and limit my night time driving (bugs) and I will be ok. lol
