Re: is a car cover worth it?

Yahhh , one always has to check and dry off when ever rain, water, or even just dew from overnight /condensation is present /suspected ! Yes, a dry garage is obviously the best cover. I've even thought of putting a soft cotton bedpad/mattress cover over a car; only when in a garage that is !!! It's lightweight making it easy to put on and thus easy on the finish ; just in case it is not pristinely clean !!! Probably would need a couple or three since even a California Kingsize pad may not be long enough ! I've got a few old bedsheets, an old comforter and an old sleeping bag on my big '67 Chrysler Newport { which I need to somehow crank over and take out of garage [for a ride] before the gasoline turns to jello !!!} .

As for a way to keep your car covered, you might get an idea here. That doesn't mean it'll stay clean. Driving in the winter (at least where I'm from) is one of the hardest times to keep it clean. Covering it is a different matter.
I just took a quick look on the web, and came up with this; but there may be cheaper places. I've seen the tents at local hardware stores where I live for $299. Just a thought .My wife & I call these Montreal garages. They seem to be popular there.

Re: is a car cover worth it?

well thanks for all the info guys. I guess im just going to stick with my plan "B". And that is to build my 4 car garage i had in mind. I didnt know if should do that or just throw a car cover over it. Seems like i would be better off with the garage, and then when im parked out in the open i will use one of those huge windshield sun visors. I also plan on getting my windows tinted so i should be ok with all of the sun exposure. or so i hope.

Re: is a car cover worth it?

There are homes with attached carports in the subdivision here. The only thing carports are good for is hail and other elements and to get occupants out of happening weather. Here's a few : New Page 5 // from Jeff Johnson Timber Frames -- Building Timber Frame Homes and Standard Timber Frames - Quality Post and Beam Timber Frame Construction , http://www.us-buildings.com/us-build...lding/carports- ,2.htm ....and here's a free standing 'Backyard Garage :

Re: is a car cover worth it?

i like the wooden one. I would like to build one like that, then close it in and put a garage door on it.

Re: is a car cover worth it?

Just adding my 2 cents. Be careful with the black cars. Black is a soft paint and scratches very easily. Take extra care when placing any car covers on. Black is beautiful but a b---- to keep clean as most of us know. Always wash from top to bottom and keep your towel/sponge free of any dirt/debri (I change mine often)to avoid scratches and swirls. Be careful to dry well before putting any cover on. While I'm on it - always hand wash your black car for best results and forget the car-washes...even if they say it's brushless. With this car, you should enjoy every moment of washing/waxing and admiring the finished results! Best time to look at your newly washed black car? Twighlight time. Doesn't get much better than that!
