i've gone over the autogeek wash stuff, so I have the basics: Mitt, 2 buckets, and waffle towel.
However I notice there are spots on the shaker matte stickers. This lead me to question, when the time comes, when I wax or use NuFinish do I need to make sure to avoid the stickers?
Also, what can I do about the stickers?
Also, I am either awful at the sheeting technique, or need to wax it to make it work, but is there something else i can consider besides the damn waffle towel? I can use that for spots, but I shouldn't be doing the whole car.
I use a car squegie to get the bulk of the water off of my cars and then dry with old terry bath towels. All of my cars look great after washing. BTW: I use Blue Coral car soap and a car sponge. It's inexpensive at Wally World and does a good job getting my cars clean and shiny. This wash method should not harm your stickers. My '10 Chrysler is black, my '12 Jeep GC is white, and my '16 Challenger SRT 392 is Jazz Blue.
I bought an electric leaf blower last year - highly recommend it. (and I can use it the yard - less raking!)
You can get 95% of the water off the car (less toweling = finish stays more flaw free of swirls) and blow water out of the grilles and crevices, especially around the trunk and tail lights and getting water off the wheels and getting water out of mirror housings.
the '15+ has way more grille openings, so you can water dripping out of places hours or a day later unless you blow the water out of there.
Now, I just use towels to blot away what little remains and wipe the glass down. Cut down on drying time a lot.
I recently purchased a Dewalt cordless leaf blower. Little small thing (about 2' long maybe) that fits well in one hand and does a good job. Pair it with the large batteries and you can do several cars before recharge. Has a nice soft rubber tip so it does not scratch if you accidentally do hit the surface.
I guess the reason for some folks not using a gas blower is because of the gas exhaust?? So you use a battery powered blower then get on the freeway or city streets and the car is subject to the exhaust gas of all the vehicles in front of and beside you; gas and diesel alike. I have used a gas blower for years and have never noticed any adverse effects on the paint of any of the vehicles.
Old bath towels seem soft, but over time will scratch the finish. For those who towel dry, you can't beat a quality microfiber towel. They're expensive but last for years. I use a blower made for cars - works great & gets the moisture out of the areas I can't reach otherwise.
