Has anyone used Power Buff Ball or Electric Buffer.Pros/Cons?

Need help from fellow Chally enthusiast..

About to enter some car shows, and it is really painful for me to wax and buff the cars... (six surgeries)

Has anyone used Power Buff Ball (like Mothers) or Electric Buffer.

Pros/Cons?

Re: Has anyone used Power Buff Ball or Electric Buffer.Pros/Cons?

Lucky dog I long to get my ride and hit the shows!

The car is new the paint is new as is the clear coat.
I personally never wax a new car until its at least 3-4 months old, thats just me.I usually put on wax by hand take it off with a buffer a nice lamb wool low speed buffer. You can find them at sears etc..
Id use Ice by turtle wax for right now then move to a better paste in a few months as the ice is easy on easy off and not too abrasive. You might grow to like Ice as I have no residue....
I use it often on my vette and it holds up well its hands on and off though no buffer.

FYI:
A foam pad for the buffer and the right mequiers product can get any swirls out of the paint once the car is a bit older some time down the line.

Matter of fact I lent my c5 out to my dad for a week or two so he can recapture his youth and I'm expecting a trashed car to return so I will be at it as well this weekend and it may require a paste wax this time as the seasons ending soon.
That vette is a real pain to wax its so low you need a roller seat just to get the sides adequately..

We all have our own ways of doing things but this seems to work for me thought Id pass it down.

I've used both, but not on the Chally yet. Same outcome though. It doesn't really save you any work. You need to remove the wax with your microfibre cloth firsrt. The Ball ,or Buffer , are intended only to polish the wax after the initial wax removal with the cloths. If you do not do this first, the units will get too gummed up (Filled with the wax) to be of any use.
Too bad, because I understand your circumstances. Maybe if you had a buffer with a lot of extra covers , so you could keep changing them , then wash them between wax jobs .

What 3H4ME said.....and you can wax the decals. Keep us posted Warrior!

Just a side note ....you might just want to spend the 80-100 bucks and have a pro do it.

Yes, Buffers leave swirl marks and have to be hand rubbed out

I thought the ball was to apply the wax?
I remember reading somewhere, I think it was in a magazine ad, that the ball allowed the wax to penetrate the poors of the paint/clear coat better.

Re: Has anyone used Power Buff Ball or Electric Buffer.Pros/Cons?

Orbital buffer the way to go! - you still have to do the small areas, curves by hand.

Saves a lot of wear and tear on the shoulders and arms. Don't have any issues with swirl marks. Apply product sparingly - I use Meguar's.

I've done two cars over the weekend (3 step process on each) and this gets 2x/year, once in the spring after then rainy season, and in the fall before the winter rains are back.
