Thumbs up Show Car Washing Technique

Show Car Garage has a very informative video on how to wash show cars. It basically describes the proper technique to wash a car and avoid swirl marks and scratches. Even if you have washed cars thousands of times, you will find something new in this video.

I think we would all like to avoid scratches and swirls and keep our new Challenger's paint in showroom condition.

Re: Show Car Washing Technique

I agree with everything he says. The only part I would recommend a change is the rinse method. It is better to use just the flow out of the hose (IE not a spray attachment) to rinse your car. The reason being it the water will just roll off the car in a sheet and there is less water to wipe off in the end.

Helps with keeping water spots off. Especially if you can't quite properly time washing your car in the evening.

Re: Show Car Washing Technique

If you guys haven't see the Adams Polishes' car detailing videos, you should. (Click on banner at the top of this home page).

There are many video clips (each one is about 3 minutes long) concening how to wash, polish and wax a car the right way. They are really very informative.

Doh! That is why I am keeping my current driver for exactly this purpose.
I plan on showing the car the first year and hope to keep the underside free from any road dirt/water. Hopefully it will be delivered in this condition.

I saw a Challenger delivered recently that looked like someone had been driving in it for months. Dirt on the carpet, and mud here & there on buttons etc.

I find that if you have rims that can hold water... like little pockets, it's not a terrible idea to slowly drive to a new dry space to dry the car, this way, the water falls out of the rims, so when you are ready to drive, you are not throwing water up the side of the car and getting water spots.

I often do that as well. Also, once i have fully dried the car, i take a short trip up the highway and back to get all of that hidden water off. In places you cant get to with a towel

Re: Show Car Washing Technique

I use an electric leaf blower to get the water out of the small cracks, mirrors and wheels. Works real well. If you get a chance try the products from Adams that was referred to above.
