Re: 08 as Daily Driver or Weekender?

I'm getting an '09, but my answer would be the same if I were getting an '08. Daily driver, 365 days a year. Through Michigan winters and all. I feel bad for anyone who is purposely babying the car to maintain resale value. This is a car that begs to be driven. If I want to make money I'm definitely not going to invest in a car - horrible investment plan.

Re: 08 as Daily Driver or Weekender?

I agree as a long term investment the new Challenger is not going to be like the 2nd gen Hemis, simply too many units being built. The biggest problem with winter will be finding a quality snow tire in 20" x 9.5 format. My 2500 diesel 4x4 will out perform SRTs in snow, and with 425 horses on tap I think the morning and evening commutes would be an exercise in frustration! HAHA!

Yep. Aside from snow/ice days (which we're lucky if we get 2-3 a year here), she will be on the road every day. And we don't even have a garage so she is sitting in the driveway dirty as I type this. She doesn't mind too much though.

Smile Re: 08 as Daily Driver or Weekender?

...I need to back up a little bit on my first post....mine won't be driven in the snow....we live in a neighborhood with lots of big hills and a rear wheel drive car can't negotiate our streets in the snow....I also have an SRT8 Jeep, it can barely find its way home in the snow...so, to clarify, my Challenger will be parked during ice and snow

Re: 08 as Daily Driver or Weekender?

Daily driver, 55 mile commute one way. NO snow or Ice. If I would have gotten an 08 it would have been the same. 55 miles...maybe I should move.

This will be my Daily driver, except for winter. It'd be silly, with two 4X4's to chance destroying the Challenger in the Canadian snow.

I agree That's the "ONLY" time it would be in the garage

What you said. Anyone that bought one of these thinking it was going to be another 70 Hemi Cuda/Challenger windfall 30 years from now is delusional. Too many of them built already, and they're just getting started.

That said, mine will be daily driven, switch hitting with my SRT-4 when the rain comes (and for those mountain biking trips). Weekend duties will probably get shared with my 65 depending on the destination/mood.

I also concur with an earlier post - Muscle cars are meant to be driven. Get out there and enjoy them!
