The majority here will be buying an R/T (not an SRT8) , so I think it deserves all the info related in one thread for quick future reference and avoid repeated questions on the subject , with a quick reply to check this STICKY .

Why does it make sense that they are not offering a SRT8 convertible? I thought they would cause of the GT500 and possibly Camaro high HP offering.

With them only building 30,000 units a year, they probably want to cut down on model proliferation. Ford builds ~ 130,000 Mustangs per year.

You may have a very long wait for the 6.4. The rumor is that Chrysler could not get MDS to work on the 6.4 and is now working on a 6.5 engine.

The 6.4L IS STILL in the plans for 2010 model year. NO 6.5L in the works. MDS development continues on the 6.1, no immediate plans for 6.4L MDS.

How about VVT in the 6.1? Is that being worked on? What other changes for the 6.1 have you heard about?

No VVT for the 2009 model year. As far as I know, no changes at all for the 2009 6.1 engines, samo samo.

Sounds like a good reason to wait for 2010, if you are contemplating an SRT8...

I'm pretty sure the revised 6.1 V8, and the new larger displacement (6.4, or is it 6.5) Engines will hit the showrooms by then.
