Re: 17,000+ Challengers! **6-18-08**

17k is alot. Im not surprise however, this is a very popular car. LIke mentioned before, the SRT's have always been a limited number. It has to be that way, one to keep the name unique, and two because of CAFE standards

Re: 17,000+ Challengers! **6-18-08**

I read in one of the previous posts that Dodge is only building 30,000 chally's total and 17,000 have already been ordered. With this being the case, would they change their mind and build more if the demand was there? or is the 30k number limited by manufacturing processes or something? If they had a hot seller on there hands, wouldn't you think they would sell as many as they could, considering the financial predicament the car companys are in?

Re: 17,000+ Challengers! **6-18-08**

I previously saw a post that Dodge would bump up the Challenger production to 45,000 cars if the demand was there. It looks like they may have to re-think their production numbers if orders get flying in!

Re: 17,000+ Challengers! **6-18-08**

I suspect you may be right the RT and SE may be bumped up well over 30k in production numbers...
The SRT I am thinking not.
Dodges 4th qautrter will be what they are looking to improve from last year and this may just be the shot in the arm needed.

Re: 17,000+ Challengers! **6-18-08**

I can see Dodge limiting the number of SRTs produced for dealer inventory. I cannot, however, see Dodge turning down pre-sold firm orders for the car. With Dodge's '08 sales down 29% and expected to worsen, it makes absolutely no economic sense to place an arbitrary limit on the number of orders it will fill. Fred Garza at Fiesta Dodge and other dealers in the central Texas area are all saying that they will get additional SRT allocations next month.

Re: 17,000+ Challengers! **6-18-08**

RT's & SE's I agree they will boost that number!With out a doubt!

SRT8's no way they are to be limited yearly thats why they cost so much.
It makes the SRT8 more of a icon than a mass produced model like the RT and SE will be.
I agree I find it amazing they would not fill all orders as well but then why have the SRT8 if they are too just pump them out a dime a dozen.

The 3600 orders for the 08's over the 6400 spec-ed will not be built if you are one of these guys good luck ,and I mean that...

Fred at fiesta Dodge said he has 7 more 08 SRT8's coming via his posts.
I wish him luck on that!
I know he will do all he can to make it happen but on the first year production of the SRT8 notice they have yet to bump the numbers over the 6400 spec-ed to be built, and I feel they wont as they wont for the 09's either.

We will see, but from the months/years of reading and tons of info I have filtered and have heard I wouldn't hold my breath on them bumping any SRT8 numbers..

Icon...lol. I just went to a dealer in NJ that has 3 Icon Chargers sitting there. They had more dirt on them then my daily driver, and my daily driver hasn't been washed in a month. What they should do is sell as many SRTs as
they could. Because a few years down the road the SRT Challengers could be the ones sitting there collecting dust.

You said the key word-"Chargers." I have been on the chargerforums web site for the past year and most of these guys are drooling over the Challenger. When they bought their cars, the Challenger was not offered.

I don't think that you will see many Challengers SRTs sitting on dealer lots for any length of time.

Re: 17,000+ Challengers! **6-18-08**

I agree completely with you that they won't build any more '08s. I'm sure Dodge selected 6400 because that is the number they believed they could build before the line had to switch to '09 production. However, I think Dodge, as long as firm orders for SRTs are received, could care less about limiting production so as to somehow make the SRTs more exclusive.
Charger and 300 SRT production was limited primarily due to the fact that most of those cars went to dealer inventory as opposed to being built in response to customer orders. Simply, the demand for Charger, 300 and Jeep Grand Cherokee SRTs was and is not there.

I hope of our sake your right. But if history plays out here, they will be sitting. Once the diehards get them and the "first guy on the block gets them" who else is gonna want them? Sad to say most men in the target age range who can afford to spend that kind of coin on a toy would most likely choose a BMW, Audi, or a Vette.

Need some proof. When the Shelby GT500 came out around 2 years ago they were being sold thousands over sticker. last summer a guy in our local Mustang club bought one for sticker. While I haven't priced one recently I was toying trading in my Mach1 for a Bullitt while searching local dealers I saw at least 6 or 7 sitting in dealers.
