2008 Challenger for Canadian dealers....when ??...how much ??...how many ??

yes those are the questions i'm sure alot of us Canadian LX owners are asking....anyone have updated info on the Challenger for Canada (it's being built in Canada for that matter) ??

according to Sandman1 at Dodge Challenger Forum and Owners Club
sources at chrysler canada have said that canadian info will be available sometime between 7-10 after the reveal, so sometime late next week.

What I know (or have heard and believe to be reliable) so far is that Silver isn't a Canadian Option but otherwise the features and options will be the same as the US version.

No one seems to know for sure what numbers are going to available or what the rules will be to determine who gets them. We are expecting the allocations and price info to be released together.... just a few more days!!

I was at my dealer 3 days ago, and talked to the manager about my car. I know I'm getting the first one coming to this dealership. I asked if I could order it in black. He told me he just left an area manager's meeting where he was told that there will be a run of 500 Challengers made for Canada. They will all be black. The SRT 8 badge will be replaced by a 500 badge on the grill. This dealer will be selling for the sticker price.Also he suggested that the engine for Canada will be stronger than the 425 horse 6.1, but did not say what it would be.Delivery will be in July.Anyone have anything more ??

What !? All black ones for Canada and only 500 instead of the 700+ no Hemi Orange !
And what is this about replacing the SRT8 badge with 500 - must have to do with the first release batch for Canada hmm .... I prefer R/T badge for some retro-reason ,to the SRT8 though

That's what I understand. These 500 (For 2008)will be unique to Canada,( Now that's a Limited Edition ) and they are coming with the " MOPAR MORE POWERRrrrrr ". Something more than 425 horse.
I understand they will not get here (N.S.)until July / August.
At least I know I have one. Also , the black looks Awesome !!

Can you tell us what is understood between you and your salesman - down to the last detail ..... like signing a contract / price agreed / etc. etc. ?

Also , I'm curious how one goes about to order a car he doesn't exactly know what it will look like / be equipped with - like say if you can order an '09 R/T right now - if that's possible ?? Do they have accurate '09 specs and options on a list to order when we visit a dealer right now , even for the '08's ??? I'd hate to order something I haven't seen properly !

First thing my dealer said was that he wasn't a "car guy", He's a "business man"... so he doesn't know enough to make up stuff. I know what the car looks like. its all over the internet.I went in to see my salesman who was on vacation // Dominican //( A win from being top salesman for this area) I met with the dealer/ Manager instead. The manager told me that my salesman was awarded the first Challenger invoice, and that he knew I was the name on that invoice. They are not allowed to take down payments on cars not yet built, and can not charge over sticker price. Depending on Can. vs US dollar, it should be @ 40K. So, you're right, no contract, but they have no reason to sell it to some one else ( Illegal to sell over MSRP). Also this will be the 4th vehicle I bought from them in 2 years, including 2 Hemi's. 2005 300C, 2007 Ram , hence 3 Hemis 4 me (3H4ME). Info. I got from this dealer is:
500 being made for Canada/All will be black/the SRT badge will be replaced by R/T500/ Production will follow American SRT 8(Therefore late Canadian delivery)/ Also indicated that it will have a higher HP motor, but didn't know enough to talk about it ( Not a "car guy")
Not too concerned about not seeing it yet, as I havn't put money down, but still have the first one coming to my dealership.

Ok it's more clear .... it's cool on your dealer'S part to reserve you this ''first invoice car'' without you putting a depot or even on paper ! So it's all word of mouth hey - I really hope for you , you get it . It's true the black looks good and you'll never tire of that color (esp. when cleaned) I know I have a black Mazda 6 . Right now I'm banking on Hemi Orange .

So this info from 3H4ME's dealer , is it out there anywhere else ? Can it be confirmed ? I like very much the idea of an ''R/T 500'' limited edition and mo-pow'r . Hey 3H4ME - can you find out with your dealer if available in 6 spd format !?

Yeah, I agree,(word of mouth only) but like I say, why would they sell to someone else ? No benefit to them.
No, I don't have info from anyone else,( although I have seen info. on a 6.6 525HP + on Dodge's site for mid 2008 ) but from this self admitted "Not a car guy" dealer, who left this "area managers meeting" and met me at his dealership, and gave me this info. I'm pretty sure it's only the 5 speed auto, but when my salesman gets back, I will be asking. ( First report from Dodge reported all 2008's were going to be 6 speed manuals. ) Dissappointed !
Yeah I know the black is hard to keep clean, but it sure looks good when it is.
Mazda 6 is very cool, any pics ? Hot car !! I love those hot smaller cars, but at 6'6", I have to look for full size.
My problem with color is that I currently have a reddish Kowasaki bike, 2007 Jeep (Reddish) 2007 Ram truck (Reddish) and want a change. I think the black is TOO COOL !! You're probably tired of the black, like I am of the red. I'm going to let this thing get her first few scratches on it anyway, and paint it a nice deep mettalic blue.
Have other vehicles in other colors. My 300C a Lava Red .Wasn't on purpose, just turned out that way. Green Suzuki Savage (Wife's bike , 650 not bad for a novice)
Ready for a color change for me.

Don't get me wrong - I love black cars( my 2nd) for the warmth (not temp.) feel they bring you all the time - you just can't go wrong - they always make you feel right at home cumfy heheh (at least for me)
