no troll here... i check this thread daily as i'll be getting a 2011 and my dealer knows nothing. i trust the information from RS but get frustrated w/ some of the comments
bottom line, it's a cool car and that's all that matters:bigthumb:

Is there an eta on the 2011 Challenger reveal? I mean we're out of autoshows, other than Frankfurt in september which is an international auto show so I'd doubt they'd be revealing an america only muscle car there. . .

I read rumors that Amber Pearl (the color on the dodge demon apparently) would be making its way onto the 2011 Charger. Any chance that could show up on the Challenger?

#188 ·
Started another thread, but will post question here as well.

#1 - Will they be the same bolt pattern for wheels?

I have 2 sets of SRT wheels and a set of drag wheels with skinnies, sure hoping they don't change anything, well see #2.

#2 - Will the wheel hop be fixed on the 6-speeds?

Seriously debating an automatic cause it is a real pain in the butt with my wheels hopping on shifts, etc. Don't want to buy the hop not kit or put extra money into it to fix.

#3 - Are there any superchargers that would be able to bolt up to 09 and 11 6.4?

Thanks.

#189 ·
I'll post another cautionary note here - alot of car reviews I am reading of these electric power steering pumps, say that the steering feel on cars with it - stinks. Read the latest review of the new 5 series in car and driver. This may sound like a "great" 2011 feature on paper, perhaps not so when the rubber meets the road.

I'm definitely considering trading up to the 2011 SRT8 from my 2009 SRT8. Bigger engine plus all of the other little goodies that were missed opportunities the first go around.

Two things preventing me from telling Bob Frederick to be ready to order me one ASAP.

[1] Cost, obviously. If things work out perfectly I might be able to trade up and pay as much as I'm currently paying per month (or less) and end up just basically "resetting" my 48 mo financing (will have 24 mo of it paid off in Nov). One thing that works out in my favor is that, despite excellent credit, APR offerings were trash back then and I ended up with a 6.49 APR. Now there's all kinds of <2% and 0% APR deals.

[2] This is the bigger one, color. If they had Detonator Yellow or Plum Crazy Purple for 2011 I'd jump on it. But, they already went through those colors. A tame green color is not high-impact to me, and white isn't as cool as hemi orange/plum crazy/detonator yellow/etc. I'm not excited about only having subdued colors/traditional colors this go around.

I know lots of people don't want some of colors to run more than one year. Fine, but they really chewed through them all quickly and have nothing to offer now. What's left beyond them going to Sublime Green (which I'm not too much of a fan of anyway). What a crappy choice of colors for 2011 for otherwise rather awesome updates/changes to the car itself.

#193 ·
True, SE colors definitely look better this time around. I'll give you that.

But SRT8 has no high-impact colors this go around. No bright colors other than the standard bright red that all SRT8 cars of all models get every year anyway.

Mango Tango will probably be neat if it's like the Charger Daytona's GoMango, but I'd rather have Hemi Orange over that. And wow, I just noticed that ResumeSpeed's original post doesn't list Green with Envy for the SRT8.

So, SRT8 = the every year standard red/black/silver, with added white/mango/deepwater blue.

Deepwater is an *awesome* color, don't get me wrong. But I want high-impact bright colors.

Maybe I'll just shelf the idea until 2012 and see what colors come out then.

#195 ·
Are you sure? Do we even know what these colors will look like?

I would assume it looks exactly like or very close to Dodge's "Go Mango" from their Charger Daytona trim.

This color:

So the question really is...why after 40 years of technology and improvement could they offer 25 different colo(u)rs in 1970, and even take special orders for single cars or batches of cars from larger dealers for a shade offered say by Chrysler, but not by Dodge or Plymouth??

The answer....cost cutting. A corporate choice made to satisfy 80% of the buyers at the expense of the 20% who just happen to be extremist enthusiasts who actually do much of their advertising for them, but still only buy 20% of the cars. So the only way you're getting your colo(u)r is to camp on the dealers desk and catch the 36 1/2 hour order window or pay a premium markup to a dealer who did.

Either way, the accountants have determined that the loss of your sale is more than compensated by the extra booth and tank they didn't have to build and maintain. So they don't give a damn.

Personally I'm a 20 percenter so I now choose camping rather than premium markups...or I don't buy. Which is why I don't have a car yet, but I soon will. And if the green is acceptably bright I'll have two. Eventually I'll get sick of camping and die:dead:...Dodge won't care and the newer generation will be happy as clams at a clam bake, because silver and black and all the shades in between is all they know.:SM002:

#201 ·
I actually think color choices are coming back. Maybe not to the degree they were in the 70s, but the younger generation has no interest in silver and grey. Look at more youth oriented cars coming out such as the ford fiesta, it's available in lime green, yellow, fuschia, red, and blue. In fact more than 50% of the color choices on that car are actual colors. That's been unheard of in the last 20 years. Look at the taurus which is aimed at older buyers, most of the shades are grey, beige, etc.

Chevy also got it right with the camaro, on all models you can get orange, red, 2 blues, yellow, and now green.

Some companies, like Dodge, are behind the times. But like you said, the bean counters have it all sorted out. It'll probably take everyone over 40 dying for good color choices to really make a comeback.

Will the 2011 SRT8 be available right from the start or will it come a bit later in the model year? Just wondering how much longer we will have to wait to have it (the 6.4L) revealed...

Say mentallychallenged, what colors would you like to see back?:fight:

give it a rest or at least keep it to one thread...then again arguing back and forth about colors that haven't been officially released or not released has worked well so far.

+1 to the Above.
This thread was originally started to update the forum/community with Fact-Checked/Inside Info, on the release of the 2011 Challenger.
This thread was not created to argue over what your "best''ist" color chioce is.

PLEASE.... Give it a rest.
Leave this thread for those that have Fact-Checked/Inside Info to provide.

I know the production date has been pushed back for the 2011 SRT-8 until late in the year, but shouldnt we be way beyond this spy pic and HP numbers speculation crap by now. I would think this close to production we would be in the magazine test driving phases. Is it me, or are they really waiting until the last second on this?

They have to draw down 2010 inventory before revealing too much about 2011's.
Also rumored, they're still getting brisk build orders, (a lot of HO's), to the point the production cycle for 2010s will go all the way thru Dec.

Maybe that spy pic didn't help much with the revealed inverted air inlet on the front fascia that made the car look like it's constipated or just not having a good day.

Hey ResumeSpeed. Been a while since we talked. Happy to see that you're just as active and avid about the Challenger now as you were during the pre-2008 model year days hehe. How goes?

The Challenger is one of my favorite cars, if I didn't need the cargo room the Jeep offers, I'd have one in my driveway! It's great to see you back here posting regularly, I hope you stick around. In fact, I know you will as I am pretty certain you'll be trading in the '09 for the new 6.4. And don't worry about the impact colors, they have not run out yet. And it wouldn't surprise me to see some returning colors in the new tri-coat paint... do stay in touch!

Billet Metallic (PSC)
Blackberry Pearl (PBV

Is the billet going to be the new silver? Very interested to see the Blackberry Pearl.
As far as I know,

Blackberry Pearl (PBV) is a very very dark blue (almost has some dark purple in it) and was first used in 2010 only on Dodge/Chrysler minivans.

Billet Metallic (PSC) is a new color and will be replacing Bright Silver (PS2)and has not been used on any vehicles prior to 2011.

Resume Speed:

- Please correct me if I am wrong.

- Do you have any more info on Billet Metallic (PSC) ?
Is it greyer than Bright Silver? Deeper? Brighter? Darker? Does it have any blue hints in it? Is there anything similar out there?

Thanks.

FYI -
Here's a Blackberry Pearl Town and Country:

And another (you can see the color a little better on this one):

I'm new to the Challenger scene. I've spend the day reading this whole thread.

My intake (from a newbie):
Many complain that the new Challengers don't look enough like the old 70' or 71' Challengers. My response.. this car is NOT a 1970 car, but a 2010 or 2011 car. It looks awesome as it is. If you want it to look more like a 1970 car, go buy a 1970 car.

After doing the SRT experience that came with my Ram SRT10 last month, I am no longer satisfied driving my 07 Jeep Wrangler with it's pathetic 3.8L minivan V6. Finally decided on the Challenger, started research, found out about the 6.4L, decided to wait. Like many others, I want a high-impact color (PCP is my favorite). I will not buy a silver, red, or black car. I'll wait as long as I can, but I won't be waiting until 2012.

I do NOT like the photo of the new air inlet on the front, who was having a bad day when they thought that up? I hope that idea goes away before production starts. The front air dam on the SMS Challengers looked very awesome and aggresive. Why not something like that?

I found a few 2010 PCP Challengers still for sale, may jump on one of those if the color choices for 2011 end up looking boring.. but hate to not get the 6.4L.

Would like to see wider tires..

The Redline color is some kind of special candy paint job, could be flake or spectraflame. Green with Envy does not say it is a pearl so it is propably simular to Sublime may be greener. Not sure what the blackberry will look like. Mango Tango was on the Jeep Wrangler a few years ago. Never saw it though. Billet might be a super bright silver, maybe.
