There cannot be airbags in the seats, never heard of that before. The mod/upgrade should be possible...like I said, the worse case scenario would be having to swap out the entire seat assembly...cost is the only obstacle here...like when is it ever not! We will have to wait and see how the new quick release seat functions. If it is a power seat, which I am sure it is, I am curious how they make it quick release/access capable. I am thinking there may be a mechanism that will disengage the seat from the power track and then it springs forward like our passenger seat does to allow easier access to the back seat. I will be hitting the showroom in January to check out one of these '11 challengers.

In the interim...I have not looked at any newer 2-door coupes...I wonder if the mustang and camaro have this feature? If it does than that's probably how Chrysler will do it....now I am curious, I'm going to have to look at my neighbors 2010 mustang.

I don't know how accurate that list is; it shows a 2011 DY, but I don't think DY is being produced 2011. The list also shows 2010 DY as SRT8 only, and that's not true.

Thanks RS, as always you are a fount of knowledge.

I am sure you know the answers to all the big questions we are dying to learn as well (colors, 6.4HP ratings, etc) but are not permitted to divulge such info. Can you at least confirm that 1 Sep is still a go for public release of such information? Thanks.

I honestly don't know what the published hp spec is going to be, in fact I believe the number they want to release has not actually been 100% finalized internally. September 1st is the normal sales launch date for new vehicles, but this year with the delays in production they are going to spread out the press releases between 9/1 and the end of the year. From what I can tell the Challenger sales launch will not be until December. What exact info they will reveal ahead of that don't know.

If I had to speculate or guess I would say that they are going to keep the hp numbers under wraps as long as possible and not reveal them on 9/1. Since the order banks open next month, other information will be made available at that time, such as features and equipment options, packages etc. Most of that info I have also posted, but I'm sure there will be the typical last-minute package changes.

Active head restraints came out on Saabs in the late 90's. When you get rear-ended, you push into the seat, but the headrest is mounted on a hinge and lever in the seat, so when you push into the seat, the headrest moves forward to catch your head and almost eliminate the risk of whiplash... very good thing to have.

Why would that make it impossible to fit the seat though? As long as the mounting points on the floor are the same, should be no issue. But of course the airbags in the seat will make it expensive!

#256 ·
Rats on the new headrests. I was really hoping to install some sort of custom DVD 7"screens in the headrests so my two girls would have something to watch on long trips to shows and such.

#259 ·
If production starts in Novemember but sales won't start until January it could be that they won't reveal it until the L.A. car show in November. Then again, if ordering starts in September/October you would think that they will tell people what they get to order... so maybe we are just days/weeks away from knowing :)

#262 ·
September 1st is rapidly approaching. Should we start getting excited now?? Or is it unlikely we are going to finally get some official data from Dodge next week...

I am agonizing over the decision to get a PCP 2010, or a 2011. Waiting... lots of stuff to dream about.

Was hoping to get one before February. Family will be out-of-the-country, so was going to send it up to Illinois for a 3.6L SC if they have a kit available by then.

There was mention on another thread (which is starting to get off topic and I didn't want to contribute, as this thread seemed more appropriate) about the differences between the 5.7 and the 6.1.

My question is related to the 6.4. It was mentioned that the 6.4 is part of Chrysler's cost savings measures, and the 6.4 will be based on the 5.7, not the 6.1.

I am concerned that if the 6.4 is based on the 5.7 instead of the 6.1, that alot of the more durability enhancing components (forged crank, oil-squirter system, sodium filled valves, etc.) will also go away. I know that the new 5.7 heads (developed for VVT) actually have better flowing ports than the older 6.1 castings, but I'd be a little worried about the durability of the 6.4 if some of the rotating assembly doesn't see the same improvements over the base 5.7. :(

Obviously we don't have any official word, and I wouldn't expect that they'll use internals from the crate 6.4, but does anybody have any insight? :scratchhead:

I recently posted that 2010 production was rumored to be extended up thru Dec, and that the 2011's would go into production after that,

RS said that wasn't going to happen,
You have to remember that when dealing with Chysler the only thing certain is that nothing is for certain,

Called my "local" Dodge stealership which is 2-1/2 hours away, and asked if they know when the 2011 info will be available. They said they'd make some calls and get back with me. It was less than 10 minutes later when they called. He said nothing we didn't already know, they won't be available to order until November, and they don't expect the info to be released by Dodge until some time in October.

Man, by this time last year they were already releasing a list of the anticipated high-impact colors for 2010...

This waiting is really getting to me.. :notallthere: :disgust: :( :icon_evil:
