Good News Is Coming...I Hope???

Dateline; May 29th, 2012...
It seems apparently that a decision has been made on the Challengers fate from what I have heard. If that holds true, then the Challenger for 2014 will receive a refreshing ... possibly...grille and taillight treatment updated (ala 1971 circuit style) and interior Jazzed up. We could possibly see some minor body line tweaks along the lines of the original cars. These updates will take the Challenger to a planned end cycle of 2016. When all the LX/LC cars are redone. The Hemi engines could possibly receive a HP increase too, before the sporty Barracuda appears sometime in late 2015.

We won't know all the details until mid June 2012. Marci-Baby feels that both the Charger and Challenger are important to Dodge's plans until 2016, and Muscle Car fans.

This rumor makes me both happy and sad.

Happy because I would love to see the interior freshened up a bit and the racetrack taillights from the charger come over.

Sad because if true it would make me want to wait until the 2014 came out to buy! And I was looking forward to picking up an old stock 2012 or new 2013 this fall/winter!

Anxiously awaiting the details of this operation coming next month!

^^ If that's the case, I think that'd be great news. The Challenger is still going strong, and Chrysler would be wise to keep it around largely unchanged for a bunch more years. Now lets see more colour availability and an upgraded interior, and there'll be a nice sales bump for the company, and more happy Challenger owners. Just don't ruin the rear-end styling of the Challenger like Ford did with the post-2009 Mustang.

Thanks for the info. Have been trying to find what 2013 MY will bring.

Just wondering if the SC on a 6.2 will work on the 2012 6.4. Really looking for a factory SC setup and be emission compliance. CA is very tough on smog check required to renew registration and so far have not seen an aftermarket SC with CARB certification.

So your sources tell you that more details on the 2014 Challenger changes will be available by June 2012? As in next month?

That would be cool.

There's no way this makes sense to me.

So if I buy a Challenger SXT or R/T...I'd be buying from Dodge...but if I up to the SRT8, suddenly, I'd be buying from SRT? I can't imagine the overhead this would cause for Dodge...not to mention, it simply doesn't make any sense...an increase in engine/options suddenly means I'm buying from a different company?

Another snooze fest of colors it seems once again for 13, or no major styling updates, no one outside of here even knows they changed the front bumper and door handles, and minor interior updates in 11. To me 2010 was the only bright spot in the run of the cars as far as colors, which is why I have mine or else I would have kept what I had, DODGE how about a little more options, oh wait you give us one a new probably mundane blue. Cintron yella or similar would look good, possibly a sassy grass green. The camaro and mustang have alot bolder options on colors right now.

Just saw on motor trend that marchionne confirmed the challenger will exist into 2014 and that it may run concurrently with the barracuda and will continue on the LX platform (obviously).

Guess this could add some truth to the rumor from 6SPD4ME.

Thanks RS, subscribed.

I saw on Allpar.com that the Challenger will continue on through 2015/16 and 8 Speed tranny will make it to all models once the US factory is up and running building them.

Launch Control!?! Ooooo!

Now if only there was a more powerful engine to go with it!

2013 Challenger base pricing: (does not include $995 destination)

SXT - $25,495
R/T - $29,995
SRT8 - *$43,425

SRT8 - New launch control feature (late availability)
SRT8 - 3 New Colors (TBA)

--RS--
Thanks RS!!

*Interesting that the base price is $1700 cheaper than the '12s, but retains the same standard features and options with added feature -- rear park sensors -- and two interior color choices.

More:

For the Challenger SRT, Charger SRT and 300 SRT, the Adaptive Damping System (ADS) has been retuned for more aggressive body roll control. The Electronic Stability Control (ESC) system has been reconfigured from a two mode system to three modes, including touring, sport and track settings.

New colors are always key to the SRT shopper, so look for three new 300 SRT colors, three new Challenger SRT colors, and four new Charger SRT colors, with many more vibrant hues being introduced throughout the model year.

Rear ParkSense is available on SXT & R/T; standard on SXT Plus, Rallye Redline, R/T Plus & R/T Classic and SRT. On R/T Plus & Classic, it's been added at No Extra Charge - a $300 value!

These are just guesses. RS, if I am right, I win employee pricing on a 392!

Mystery Colors:

1.) Jeep's Gecko Green will be called Sublime on the Challenger.
2.) Another orange will become available too. I hope it is a return of Hemi or Header Orange, but I would not be surprised if it is Dozer from the Jeep Wrangler, which is more yellow than Header was. Doing that keeps things new, rather than retreading old colors.
3.) The third mystery color will be some sort of purple.

I base these guesses off of looking at Jeep Wrangler colors, which have some of the best Chrysler offers, and the fact that Dodge already did Stinger Yellow this year. Plum Crazy sold fairly quickly when it was available, versus the slower selling Furious Fuschia and Detonator Yellow. I request Flame Red from the Wrangler make it over to the Challenger as well, just because Redline is not a true red.

Also, my bonus guess is that Jeep's Cosmos Blue will be called Jazz Blue on the Challenger (similar to Grabber Blue on Mustangs).

Just reading thru, but the computer took my order today 6/5/12.

Salesman was kinda surprised that it went thru, but it did!

Phantom Black Pearlcoat...sounds like a revivial of the black used on 1993-2002 GM F-Body cars whereas under different lights blue, brown and purple hues could be seen.

It's a shame that potential buyers looking for particular colors cannot know them ALL well in advance. So, they can make an intelligent decision for a future purchase without guessing. But then Chrysler/Dodge likes playing 20 Questions with potential customers. Unlik Ford, that puts their color chart cards on the table for their customers.

Also, there is additional time, until 2016, to order a Challenger. Without being redundant refer to the THREAD in the Dodge Challenger Industry News sextion. There are two threads that actually will help.
