Re: 392 Hemi

This is the information I have been told. From ford we all know that the mustang gt500 will be 475 hp, I do know this as a fact, because the mustang has 475 hp, chevrolet motor division is thinking about dropping the corvette 7.0 with 505 hp in the new camaro. With all that said, dodge will need a 500hp engine in the new challenger. Even if it's the 6.1 it will need to be 500 to 550 hp.

Re: 392 Hemi

I am an old timer. (1966 dodge coronet500 with the 426 street hemi) A 426 hemi would be a dream come true, dodge listen up, bring back that bad boy elephant motor. Make it 500hp on paper, and a true 600hp under the hood.

Re: 392 Hemi

I think within three years...

1. The Viper SRT and the Z06 will be in the 600-700 H.P. range... leaving room for number 2.

2. The SRT CHALLENGER and Z28|SS Camaro will be in the 525|550 H.P. range with both having a 6.9|7 L. engine (426 VS 427 c. i. d.) with 6 stick to compete with the GT500. All will be expensive...but in the same price bracket!

3. Variations of the CHALLENGER to be built as follows:
Base: 3.5 with 5 speed auto in the 275|300 H.P. range.
S|E: 5.7 with 6 speed auto in the 350|375 H.P. range.
R|T: 6.1 with 6 speed auto and stick in the 425/450 H.P. range.

4. Camaro, Mustang and CHALLENGER will compete for our $$$..and it will be NIRVADA! I sure hope I am right...unless DC do even better! I also think the next CHARGER will be done RETRO style ... 4 doors!

Re: 392 Hemi

If DCX plans on making the 6.1 L the biggest engine avail., than you might as well go whaling with a fork and a rubberband! The GT 500 will get 500 plus hp in its second or third year and the Camaro will be a Tazmanian Devil on Red Bull if it gets the LS7 engine (which it will) as the C-7 Z06 moves on with the new LS8 575 plus hp motor from hell. THE 6.4 L BETTER BE AN OPTION or the General will be getting out of debt very quickly.

Re: 392 Hemi

As someone else pointed out, the Viper will have to get a horsepower bump if they're going to drop 500 into the Challenger.

Right now, I'm worried about stricter smog and gas mileage regulations coming down the pike. Big horsepower is getting (apparently) easier to make and more affordable. You can't get a family sedan with less than 200 anymore. Which is good for us... but I fear some sort of backlash.

I hope this car comes out before something happens and they scale everything back.

Re: 392 Hemi

well, i dont know if anyones reading this thread, but as next chall was saying about the trim packages and engines, i agree but i have make some corrections for myself and true muscle car enthusasts.

Base: 3.5L auto at 250 HP
SE: 5.7L auto at 350 HP
T/A: 6.1L with auto and 6 speed manual at 425 HP
R/T: 6.4L (or just put 392 C.I. i'll be happy) with 6 speed manual at 500+ HP
im not font of the SRT name, i want this car to stay true to its roots in all ways possible while modernizing the technology
