4100lbs !!!!??? Why is this thing so damn heavy??

I have a charger and was hoping to trade it in for the challenger, but now im asking myself why if this thing is smaller on the inside and actually weighs more. What happened to the 4.5 second 0-60 dodge promised us with the concept and why is a coupe heavier than the four door charger?? Mind boggling

Re: 4100lbs !!!!??? Why is this thing so damn heavy??

A lot of 4 door cars weigh less than 2 doors. and the SRT8 has a 0-60 in 4.9 seconds, and why is weight an issue when the car looks this good, has a great 0-60 time, a high top speed, and costs about 75% less than an original Challenger? Yeah it does weigh a lot but I don't see the complaint here. Explain why this is a problem. I don't understand.

this is the auto don't forget. I don't think the weight will change much, but with the 3.92 instead of the 3.06 out back that 0-60 should go down. It is still a great competitor in the muscle car wars now, but wait till we get a good old fashioned manual, that'll be when things will get interesting.

Its aproblem to those of us who care about performance and bragging rights. If i cared about looks i would just go out and buy the v6 and save a ton of gas. I wanna be able to take out or at least hang with the big boys with just a few simple mods. The difference between 3500lbs and 4150lbs is 13.5sec 1/4 and 12.9secs, thats huge. Now i gotta spend another few grands to get this thing respectable, for that kind of money i can buy a gto or corvette and have a 12.5 second car from the get go. Also word is that the new Camaro and the redesigned mustang is going to be in the 3600-3700lb range, that will run circles around this obesity.

How much do the '05-'08 Mustangs GT's weigh? What about the current GTO's?

Re: 4100lbs !!!!??? Why is this thing so damn heavy??

Well if you go to dodge.com and look at specs the SRT-8 charger is 20 pounds heavier than the chally. The r/t was around 4030 so an R/T chally should be near 4000.

Have to remember its off of a shortned charger what do you expect?

I think the car is SWEET

4100 isn't that bad. What about the 454 1973 Impala. That was huge but was still very fast.

It's just a number stop worrying about it so much! Once you get behind the wheel of one you won't care how much it weighs. Enjoy this car while you can, it won't be around for long!
