Re: 4100lbs !!!!??? Why is this thing so damn heavy??

being a pretty heavy car and pretty big it should ride pretty good.BTW, Chrysler can`t give us all of the goodies the 1st or 2nd year. They always leave room for improvements so that people keep buying them. I`m pretty sure they may even have a supercharger on possibly a T/a challenger ,a bigger motor, and chrome wheels by the time I buy mine in april/may of 2009. I`ve waited 20 years to purchase a RWD musclecar from dodge so I can wait just a little longer so I can pay cash for it[I hate payments]

Re: 4100lbs !!!!??? Why is this thing so damn heavy??

btw,I don`t plan to take it to the track much and hopefully it will run high 12`s w/o supercharger .I just hope they can work on the gas mileage some because I`d like to drive it everyday.I`d love to see a 6.4 6 speed supercharged with available MDS and 25 mpg.

Re: 4100lbs !!!!??? Why is this thing so damn heavy??

I have read that Chrysler is having problems mating the 6.4L to MDS. As a result, it is presently testing a 6.5L.

I was just going to suggest a T/A Challenger, and what equipment it would have. It would NOT have a higher HP V8 in it.

Here's what I suggest:

Hi Output V6, the new 4.0L, with at least 300 HP.

Good Suspension, "Baby" Brembos F & R. Great Car for the Twisties.

Lighter 6 Speed Manual, 5 Speed AutoStick

Lighter Car overall, say, all up weight at 3600 lbs. Minimally optioned car, for the Kids. Lower price, say, 30K, or upper 20's (better)

Great T/A Graphics and Color Choices.

Hmmmm...?

LJB

PS: Some of you might recall Me suggesting this way back in prototye days last year. What I was shooting for was NOT a "Secretary Special."

Not that I have anything against "Office Assistants", esp if they're Pretty...

I like it big, heavy and powerful. Like the good old days of American Muscle cars.

Re: 4100lbs !!!!??? Why is this thing so damn heavy??

Everyones going to be expecting this car to be fast, especially faster than the charger because its a coupe. But since it weighs the same as a Charger , no thanks, id rather keep the sleeper appearance of my R/t and mod the hell out of the engine to make it an srt8 chally killer

Re: 4100lbs !!!!??? Why is this thing so damn heavy??

I still maintain Dodge should let the T/A version, if they build one, to be a lightweight handler, just like it's SCCA forebearers.

Me, I'll buy one of the heavy cruisers, a la SRT8, loaded. But, that's ME.

Give the Kids, and the twistie addicts, their lightweight, V6 alternative. It would be a nice car, easy on the Gas & Pocketbook.

We're all not made of money.
