Re: 426 Crate Engine

24K! You have got to kidding. Thats alot of dough for 12.3 second et's! There are quite a few crate motors out the that can beat those number for alot less. The 6.4 with 515 hp (or whatever the final number is) should make better numbers and I believe they will be able to be had in the 11-12K range. Imagine what you can do with 24K if you build it yourself!

Re: 426 Crate Engine

I think and hope that DCX will build a limited edition ($$$) 426~7L Dodge CHALLENGER~ Chrysler CUDA~SUPER BEE~ROAD RUNNER~GTX around the 2010~2011 year. If all the ingredients stay about the same as of now, soon there will be an open MUSCLE CAR WAR raging and DCX, GM and FORD will have no choice..but to go BALLISTIC! All three companies are and will be hurting in the sales department and, in order to get the american interest, will have no choice but to build such historical flag ships that no other company can. I am a very patient man and have the connections with a DCX dealer. I also have ~and some of you too I am absolutely sure~ a special bank account that I am building up exactly to be one of those lucky buyers! HAPPY NEW YEAR TO ALL!

Re: 426 Crate Engine

You could get the car under 12 seconds by adding a higher stall torque converter maybe 3300-3600 and getting some weight off the car. I would say also installing a (numerically) higher gear would give you quicker acceleration. There should be a number of low cost mods to do with the purchase of a 426 to get it under 12 secs.

How about adding a Nitrous Oxide System ? Doesn't that give a short burst of power ?
