5 Weeks...Still Production Scheduled... What gives?

Well the title says it all. Ordered my car on 12/8. It's now almost 5 weeks later. My initial estimated ship date was 12/18, then it got pushed back to 1/18. Now it's only 2 days til then and the car is still sitting in D status.

I know there were holidays in there, but seriously... WTF?

I don't mind too much since it gives me more time to secure financing and insurance, but at the same time, I want the car NOW! Lol

Mostly just venting, but if you have experienced this before, how long did it finally take?

did they give you a ship date? I ordered mine around the same time and they gave me a ship date of 1/21;
mine is white w/ silver stripes..not sure if that makes any diff... btw jazz blue w/silver was my second choice too... i am sure that will be a beauty.. post some pics when you get it... not enough examples online.

Ordered mine the end of April 2012. Built May 25th. Arrived at dealer July 18th.... I was told it took so long because it was a "sold order" so I didn't get preference. Sounds crazy, I know. It really started pissing me off when I saw dealer ordered Challengers coming into my dealer, with higher VIN's than mine, and my car was still sitting in Canada. Two of those cars that came in before mine are still sitting at the dealer. One is a Yellow Jacket.

I ordered mine around the 1st of Nov.....arrived the 18th of Dec....about 6 weeks.........the factory closes for about 2 weeks for Christmas so I would say your car is on track......and really surprised about how many say there order is held up because it is a sold order....I have ordered many a new vehicle and they always got preference...

I ordered my granite blacktop r/t plus 12/15. It was in production scheduled for maybe a week. Its at Final Inspection and has been there for about a week.

do not expect special treatment from Dodge when ordering. Most manufacturers put priority on an ordered vehicle but not Dodge. You are alays better off finding one on a lot somewhere unless you want/ do not want something very specific in the car. Good luck and hope your cars come soon.

Ordered mine on 19 Nov and VOTS showed it going through the process fairly quickly. Until it got to "Final Inspection".............and it's been listed that way for the past month now. I know for a fact that it actually shipped from the factory by rail on the 31st of Dec.......so delivery is imminent for me. Whoever is responsible for VOTS has dropped the ball........

Just because there isn't any update online doesn't mean you can't get a call from the dealer saying your car is in. My car had an arrival date at the dealer and showed up almost two weeks early. What a welcome surprise call. It's hard to do but don't follow it so closely as it drive you up a wall. They want the car on the books as a delivered vehicle probably more than you do, they're survival is based on your money.

There can be supplier issues, dealer allocation issues, and many other reasons they get held up. Hope yours comes in soon.

I wouldn't get too worried. According to the online status the vehicle I bought was supposedly 2-3 weeks out from delivery when I bought it off the lot.
