General Challenger DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the Dodge Challenger. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
OK, I have just one question. How can Dodge justify all the R&D $ for a one model year limited production car?
Regardless of what I may think sometimes, I am not the center of the universe. I really hate to think that Dodge is going through all this trouble for a one year run.
Say it aint so!
.,
My answer to all of that is that not all things in R&D are strictly focused on an end-product application. A supercharged Hemi strikes me as something that was in concurrent development all along, just to have explored/investigated that scenario. If a scenario emerges where it could be put to use, then it is already 85% there. If it doesn't emerge, it just resides on the tinker shelf of R&D.
It's not that I really needed 370 hp...but having 150+ hp riding shotgun at a moment's bidding w/o a 6000 rpm moonshot is what makes me feel like I'm in the right car for me. The roar of a v8 seals the deal!
The Google keyword is "ethanol-free gas". The truth is coming to light. Check out http://pure-gas.org/
All you guys that are lining up to get a 6.2 better get your deposit in NOW. Serious rumor has it that a TOTAL of 1500 supercharged Challengers will be built...including both sticks and autos. Ain't gonna be many to go around.
Just a word to the wise...
Nah, RS has stated a few times that there will be more than a limited amount of 6.2SC engine's and that it wont be a limited production thing. So I'm not worried about getting one. Because anything he say's is pretty much what happens.
Hopefully they sell it in a crate version as well. Would make a great E-Rod setup. Imagine dropping it in a old dart or 1960 Chrysler 300. WOW! Im pretty sure it would be a $16k crater.
any word on when they plan the press release? We know that they will be starting production in the summer, would be nice to know details about the car by at least feb.

My guess is on the Detroit Auto or New York Auto show.
Thanks Ray, as always very appreciated. I'm hoping for the Detroit show. If they wait until late march I'd be suprised... That would only give 2-3 months for the pondering.
I'm kinda happy and sad to hear of any supercharged version coming out. I'm happy that Dodge is trying to compete a little with the ZL1's and 500's out there.....but as much as I'd love to have one, I just can't justify going from an R/T, then a 6.4...then a 6.2 blown challenger all with a 5 year time frame.
The N/A 6.4 is enough on the street already, and the aftermarket is finally coming out with blower kits...which should get the existing 6.4's in the mid-to-high 500HP range anyway.
I just need to be sure that if/when the 6.2 blown versions of the SRT ever come out on the market, I WILL NOT go on any test drives!!! I may lose what little logical reasoning I have! lol

Exactly my thoughts, but probably have less logical reasoning than you to lose.
