Basically like giving my current car away and buying a new SRT...as far as price goes. Just hard to do...even though I need no loan... Just hard throwing money out the window.
Usually I use a rule of thumb of one year. For example, 2011 debuted the 392 and in 2012 they added on a few features such as the suspension, fixed door handle issues, headliner issues, power steering pump failure and part testing in the real world. Not saying that every vehicle will have problems, but it's just a way to give owner and manufacture time to fix the minor problems that are found out as owners report issues through usage.

At this point, for me, it's weighing convenience (complete package vs modding or just adding a Torred sister vehicle). Price is important and by no means would I overpay (e.g. 10k markup on the ZL1), but I don't mind spending if its reasonable, affordable and convenient.

I kind of relate it to giving toward a good cause. Yes maximizing your dollar earned is important but I don't mind tipping/rewarding those that put in the passion and effort to make this car a realty.

AUTO SLEUTH

Hot off the press!

A super Challenger on the way: The Sleuth is plugged into the Chrysler grapevine and what he hears is the rumble of a very special Dodge Challenger SRT392 model set to arrive in the spring. What’s so special, you might ask? Well, the existing 470-horsepower 6.4-liter“Hemi”V8 will be available in a supercharged format that could boost output past 600 horsepower. That would allow it to compete against the Mustangbased 662-horsepower Shelby GT500 as well as the 580-horsepower Chevrolet Camaro ZL1.

For the 2015 model year, the Challenger will undergo major reconstruction and a name change to Barracuda, which is a more iconic name than Challenger. No word on content, but the Barracuda could wind up using a modified Alfa Romeo chassis that’s lighter than the current Chrysler 300/Dodge Chargerbased platform, offer an assortment of four-/sixand eight-cylinder powerplants, and feature optional all-wheel-drive. The Sleuth can’t wait.

Sounds like it confirms the engines availability and RS has hinted that it will be available with (some of?) the following colors. Which would give you a good idea of when it will be released.

HEMI ORANGE (May 13, 2013)
SUBLIME METALLIC CLEAR COAT (Late May 2013)
TORRED/HIGH PERFORMANCE RED (May 20, 2013)

Thanks Ray, I didn't know there were some problems with the 2011. Yeah, I'd like to wait on the following year too, but from what I've read/heard, these will be extremely limited... somewhere around 500 of each current SRTs, excluding jeep. If thats the case, the 6.2 may come in another body style, but it won't be in the one we currently have. This is what I've read, but could be wrong...we don't know squat really. Here in a few months we will though. Guess I'll keep the supercharger off my current ride and wait until then. Funds are ready for the dropping, but can wait too. I still love me current ride!

In a few years, I'd buy one lightly used for a fraction of the price. I am not being negative about it, just realistic. Even a 392 at 45-50K is stretch for most. These cars are overpriced for what you get performance wise. Many of us have said that since the beginning, but who cares... It is the best looking muscle car around!
useless? just because the price is out of the reach of yourself (and myself) doesnt mean its something that shoudnt be built...

I wont be getting one but im still glad its going to be built (if the rumors are true). Maybe people will quit bitching about being "slow"

Also about it being "overpriced", maybe in comparison to the mustang or camaro but look at many of the higher end brands, they probably wont be able to touch this car and cost WAY more than even the suggested price of this, and are generally pieces of shit (I wont mention which brands as ppl get their panties in a bunch *cough* bimmers *cough*). I wouldnt call it over priced, expensive yes but not overpriced, its the top dog and should be priced higher than the trims below it.

Waiting for a official release from Chrysler with pricing. I have heard too many internet rumors on the Challenger, SC 6.2, and Barracuda.

It will be based on the 6.1 Hemi
Thats the bit that makes this less than believable. Why would they base it on an engine that isn't even their standard anymore? They'll be doing it based on the 6.4 for sure, taking it down to a 6.2, if they infact do this.

Nope, still all stock drive train. I would not want to do really hard launches with slicks until I get a better drive shaft. The stock one can handle alot but I just dont wanna push it. LOL
