General Challenger DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the Dodge Challenger. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
Jesus, I can't wait for this freaking car to be built, maybe then we can move on. Anyone complaining about the price tag, local dealers have 2013 GT500s going for 65K MSRP, with the typical markups. Knowing Chrysler, this god damn thing will cost 75K.

People on car sites amaze me ... first they complain Dodge isn't competitive enough and then when information is leaked about what's coming, they down it and say I can duplicate it for less.
If anyone had taken the time to read any recent Ford magazines when the 5.0 Coyote; the RoadRunner Boss 302 and finally the 5.8 SC GT500 engine and drivetrain packaging information was released to the public those enthusiasts were estatic. It sounds to me, that some current owners aren't really TRUE Mopar people or else they would be excited that their wishes were about to become reality.
True, a 6.2 SC "HellCat" Hemi Package won't be for everyone. Just like neither are a Z06, ZL1, ZR1 or GT500 isn't for all Chevy and Ford enthusiasts. They are Halo cars, just as the 440 Six Pack, Max Wedge and 426 Hemi was back in the day.
There were many more 340s, 383s and 440s waging the battle then the legends. So, enjoy the moment when it comes rather then putting it down.
hope it comes and I am not a MOPAR fan.

A LOT more than 500 will be built for each model...
Good news, now I can sit patiently and relax a little about being able to ge one. Also, the speculation about HP may be wrong as well, so that gives a bit of hope too.
JSD512, if this thing is anything over 75K, it better have 700HP!

My understanding is this is the new SRT replacement engine. Moving toward smaller displacement, forced induction engines.
As for price, I would think a $12,250 upgrade would be reasonable (supercharger, aluminum block, completely forged internals).
So, $45,770 + 12,250 = $58,020
Not including extras
+ $995 - ZF 8HP70 8-speed transmission
My largest complaint with the SRT vehicles is when I had to start paying for the NAG1 transmission in 2010, when in 2009 it was the manual transmission that was a $995 option.
I was pricing SRTs & ZL1s around my town and the SRT8 '12 Challenger was only 5k away from a ZL1. So... You could see the heart break there... At least if they leave the 6.4 it'll give me some sort of chance of actually getting an SRT relatively new... before this gen challenger or myself dies. lol

Hmm, wonder why they didn't mention their source for the (little bit of) new info?
