General Challenger DiscussionThis section contains general discussion about the Dodge Challenger. If it does not fit into a more specific area, it probably belongs in here. (Dodge Challenger General Discussion)
While we're talking about the 6.4L, wasn't there some talk a little while back of a "high output" 6.4L with maybe a small bump in power? Any idea if that is still happening?
Also, are there any plans to make some of these goodies backwards compatible with the '11-'12 392's (launch control, etc)
I don't think us owners who bought in 2011 and 2012 should totally miss out here on some of these minor, but important tweaks.
Any more info on the "dealer offered" packages rumoured a while back (like stage kits or replacement PCM's)? I'll tell ya, 500hp PCM swap/kit and launch control would make me one happy customer (there's just something psychological about getting your car OVER that magical "500hp" line, even if it only means 30 more hp)
I just want something cool to look forward to without having to buy ANOTHER Challenger!!! (my wife will leave/kill me). It just seems sometimes like Dodge favors those that DON'T buy their products because every year something new/better comes along in small increments.
Whatever IS coming, i'd be hard pressed to ever let my Header Orange baby go as I prefer it 100x over my Hemi Orange car.
As I read around on the interwebs, ought to be shooting for results like these from a 390 motor with a manga charger...engine dyno here but still impressive, even considering expected drive train loss. Whether cam profile and extensiveness of head work on the all pro heads makes for a real comparison is for the interwebs bench racers, but this is where we'd like to see our mopars.... Cut off at 6300 or so to see where effective bop is on our vehicles, unless you have a Tcm that is programmed and you get the picture.
Also, the ZL1 and GT500 both MSRP at $55k. Since we're talking about Chrysler, though, this car will be slower, will cost more, will have little to no aftermarket support and will be warrantied by the most worthless dealership network in the country. You go right ahead and buy one, though.
As for price, I would think a $12,250 upgrade would be reasonable (supercharger, aluminum block, completely forged internals).
If that's the case, adding $12,250 to the current car's $49,400 MSRP (that is, a '13 equipped the way I'd want it) would yield me a price of $61,650 --- That's too high for MY blood!!!
But for those who will be able to afford this. Congrats on acquiring a true BEAST.
Hopefully I may be able to join you when these cars hit the used car markets...
My understanding is this is the new SRT replacement engine. Moving toward smaller displacement, forced induction engines.
As for price, I would think a $12,250 upgrade would be reasonable (supercharger, aluminum block, completely forged internals).
So, $45,770 + 12,250 = $58,020
Not including extras
+ $995 - ZF 8HP70 8-speed transmission
My largest complaint with the SRT vehicles is when I had to start paying for the NAG1 transmission in 2010, when in 2009 it was the manual transmission that was a $995 option.
With mass production I'm thinking it wouldn't be quite that much. My guess is under 60k, somewhere in the mid 50's. Just enough out of reach for us mere mortals.
i think its great dodge is competing like this. I think its ridiculous though the price tag that will accompany it. but so goes the high end performance.

Speed costs money. I guess We'll have a better idea if it's worth it once we get some better information on what it'll have and what it'll do ( or what we can do with it)
