Allocation - a brief description

Ok, heres is a brief rundown of how allocation works

Every month a dealer is given an allocation of vehicles that they can order. this is time sensitive and they can lose the units if they do not order in time. The chrysler dealer reps determine how these are divided up. allocation is broken down by business center then by stores performance. it does tie into what and how much they buy. chrysler's job is to sell cars to dealers, the dealer's job is to sell cars to the customers. think of SRT-8s and R/T Challengers as bonus incentives for dealers who buy more from the factory and help move merchandise that is less popular.

I have contacted or will be contacting those here who have placed orders with me. We have received allocations to cover all orders and have plenty of R/Ts left.

also I have a huge selection of Diesels trucks and Ram 1500s that we are cutting SMOKING deals on!

Re: Allocation - a brief description

Great news Fred thank you for that post and clarification on dealers allocations.

When I spoke with Bob today all his cars all will be allocated asap as the rep he was sitting with right after I spoke with him assured Bob his orders will all be filled and may actually pop earlier than expected.
This was as I suspected his June allocation and July,August,Sept, etc, will include many more SRt's.
2k more for an 09 didnt surprise me as everything on this planet went up 10-20% in raw material cost.
Too wait for an 09 SRT8 may be a big mistake they are being called for and may be close to sold out for 09 already....
I said close.

Smile Re: Allocation - a brief description

...I've never figured out the adavntage to the customer(the guy with the $$$) of the allocation program....to me, the customer should be able to buy WHAT he wants, WHERE he wants and WHEN he wants....

...examples, I tried for years to purchase a new Vette locally, they could never get an allocation for more than 1 per year(at the end of the year), and the sales manager always took that one...so, I bought Vipers instead, but not from my local dealer, they could rarely get one either....examples abound, but the bottom line is I can't buy what I want, where I want, when I want....the customer demand should determine the allocations, not the manufacturers overstock and mistakes in inventory production

...I have quite a few retail businesses and I can't force my customers to buy stuff they don't want/need....I'm just happy to sell them anything they want

...the auto industry is kinda like a restaurant(I have a restaurant too) making you eat 5 bowls of spinach before you get your desert, and charging you for it...

...the other side of the allocation program....

...many of the big dealers with large allocations get all the first run stuff, when the market adjustments are the best and they can cash in on new products.....the little small town dealers get their allotment the end of June when everyone else has filled the pipeline....so, if I want a new 09 Vette(or what ever), I must wait until the end of the 09 model run to get mine from a local dealer....the big dogs eat first

...I ordered a new Jeep SRT8 a couple of years ago....my local dealer had used his yearly allotment of 1 already.....he had to purchase 6 Pacificas to get me another Jeep allotment...I'm really surprised the smaller dealers don't revolt against the allocation programs, no doubt they lose sales

...enough rant for now

Re: Allocation - a brief description

I hear Dodge doesn't do things that way anymore that was the Germans in action. Allocation has changed over the years and they no longer require you to take dogs to get SRT8's.
Its all a mystery to me plus the SRT8 increase is a bit of a shocker ,but everything has risen is cost as of late!
I thinking this is why many Rt's will sell and some who intended to buy SRT8's may now have to consider an RT.

Its car sales voodoo and I try to stay clear of all it integral workings if you dig too deep it just gets uglier and uglier.
It may be time for some to consider an RT due to cost, and they will roll off the line next month win ,win!

I was thinking along the same lines as you. Extra 2k might just encourage others to purchase the R/T which will be almost 11-12k cheaper....
